(CLO) The Israeli attack on Iran damaged secret military bases southeast of the Iranian capital, believed to be linked to the country's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.
Satellite images show that Iran's Parchin military base suffered damage to several buildings following an Israeli attack on October 26. This base is where the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) suspects Iran conducted tests of high explosives capable of launching nuclear weapons. Iran has long maintained that its nuclear program is peaceful.
The nearby Khojir military base also sustained some damage. This is where analysts believe there is an underground tunnel system and missile production sites.
The Iranian military has not acknowledged any damage at Khojir or Parchin from the Israeli attack, but said the attack killed four Iranian soldiers working in the country's air defense system.

The Institute for Science and International Security has identified the destroyed building at the Parchin base on the mountainside as "Taleghan 2". On the morning of October 27th, the institute added: "It is uncertain whether Iran used uranium at 'Taleghan 2'."
Rafael Mariano Grossi, head of the IAEA, confirmed on X that Iran's nuclear facilities were unaffected. "Inspectors continue their important work. I urge caution and restraint from actions that could jeopardize the safety and security of nuclear and other radioactive materials," he added.

Other buildings destroyed at the Khojir and Parchin bases may have been structures where Iran used industrial mixers to produce the solid fuel needed for its massive ballistic missile arsenal.
In a statement released shortly after the attack on October 26, the Israeli military said it targeted "missile production facilities used to manufacture the missiles that Iran fired at the state of Israel over the past year."
Destroying such sites could significantly disrupt Iran's ability to produce new ballistic missiles following the two attacks on Israel. Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, the unit that oversees the country's ballistic missile program, has remained silent since the October 26 attack.
General Kenneth McKenzie, then commander of the U.S. Central Command, estimated Iran's overall ballistic missile arsenal, including short-range missiles incapable of reaching Israel, to be "over 3,000" in a 2022 testimony before the U.S. Senate.
A factory appears to have been attacked in the industrial city of Shamsabad, just south of Tehran near Imam Khomeini International Airport, Iran's main gateway to the international market. Online videos of the damaged building correspond to the address of a company called TIECO, which advertises itself as a manufacturer of advanced machinery used in Iran's oil and gas industry.
