Pressure of Ly Nha Ky

Taking on the position of head judge of Miss Cosmo HCMC 2026, Ly Nha Ky said that the biggest pressure is not public opinion but having to be fair to the contestants' efforts.

The Miss Cosmo Ho Chi Minh City 2026 contest with the theme “The New Iconic” has officially launched. Taking on the role of head of the jury, Ly Nha Ky expressed that what impressed her about the season was the criteria to honor the comprehensive beauty of women, not only beauty but also intelligence, courage, dynamism and independence.  

“The contest accurately reflects the image of Vietnamese women in the integration era: they are not only wives and mothers within the family, but also businesswomen, artists, leaders, politicians ... who are affirming their position and value in society.”

According to Ly Nha Ky, when evaluating contestants, she is not only looking for a beauty queen for the final night but also a brand ambassador capable of accompanying the crown and responsibility long-term.

“Beauty will fade, but the value of a person is eternal. A businessman always seeks sustainable value, and here, “profit” is the positive influence, prestige of the contest and the ability to spread kindness of the new beauty queen. Therefore, character, personality, and ethics are the foundation,” she said.  

As a judge, Ly Nha Ky admitted the risk of receiving mixed reactions, even being accused of being “biased” if there is an acquaintance. However, she believes that is inevitable. “The responsibility of the head judge is to ensure fairness based on a clear scoring scale. The result is the sum of a collective, not an individual decision.”  

Ly Nha Ky said she has the “shield” of her own impartiality and prestige to face all the negative reactions. The biggest pressure is to be fair to the contestants’ efforts, and she believes that time will be the fairest answer for those who deserve it.

Miss Cosmo Ho Chi Minh City opens its portal to receive applications from November 2. The contest accepts female Vietnamese citizens (or Vietnamese residing abroad) from 18-33 years old, 1m65 or taller, high school graduates, and especially encourages diversity, accepting candidates who have undergone cosmetic surgery. The final night is scheduled to take place on March 14, 2026.
