(CLO) Argentine police have arrested a man in Buenos Aires for possessing a large number of antique Nazi weapons decorated with the symbol of the Third Reich from the regime of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

According to a report from Argentina's federal police on Friday, police seized more than 60 guns at the man's home, including 43 rifles with Nazi eagle emblems, 15 pistols, five bayonets and a machine gun.

Authorities also confiscated Nazi flags, uniforms, hats, helmets, and a bust of Hitler, the report said. According to police reports, staff from the Buenos Aires Holocaust Museum assisted in the enforcement action.

The house where the items were found is in the city of Quilmes, near the southern edge of the greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Police had been tracking the man after he traveled abroad and were linked to an investigation initiated by Bosnia-Herzegovina police.

After World War II, many Nazi officials including notorious death camp overseer Adolf Eichmann emigrated to Argentina to avoid trial for war crimes.

Last year, local security forces raided and shut down a bookstore in Argentina that was selling books about fascism online.
