White suffered an injury at a crucial point in the season. |
According to The Athletic , the 28-year-old suffered a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury in his knee after a collision with Crysencio Summerville during the 1-0 victory over West Ham on May 10th. White left the London stadium wearing a knee brace, raising serious concerns about the extent of the injury.
Test results indicate that White will be unable to participate in the Champions League final against PSG in Budapest on May 30th. This is considered a huge blow for manager Mikel Arteta, especially since Jurrien Timber has not yet recovered from an ankle injury that has lasted since March.
The personnel crisis forced Arteta to consider makeshift solutions for the right-back position. In the match against West Ham, the Spanish strategist moved Declan Rice to the wing, while new signing Cristhian Mosquera was seen as the most natural choice to replace White.
Unfortunately, White had just overcome a series of knee problems to make a strong comeback this season. He played 30 games and played a crucial role in Arsenal's quest to win both the Premier League and the Champions League.
The injury also threatens White's chances of participating in the 2026 World Cup. After being abruptly dropped from the England squad at the 2022 World Cup, the defender, born in 1997, regained his place under coach Thomas Tuchel and even scored in a friendly against Uruguay in March.
However, with little time left to recover before the opening of the 2026 World Cup, White's chances of being included in the England squad are now in serious doubt.
