Eze will bring creativity to Arsenal's midfield. |
Arsenal are planning another big-money move after completing the signing of Viktor Gyokeres, The Times has revealed. Having already signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera, Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Viktor Gyokeres this week.
If the Gyokeres deal is completed, Arsenal's player spending this summer will reach £230 million, a record high in the club's history. However, Arsenal is not stopping there. Eberechi Eze is considered the Gunners' top target in upgrading their attack.
Eze's contract with Crystal Palace has a £60m release clause. Arsenal are keen to negotiate a lower fee, or pay the fee in instalments to Crystal Palace.
Eberechi Eze himself is also determined to join Arsenal, because he has been a fan of the Gunners since childhood. Arsenal's big spending this summer is largely due to coach Mikel Arteta. British media revealed that coach Arteta was the key factor in convincing the board to increase the transfer budget, despite the Kroenke family's conservative financial philosophy.
Arsenal's owners, led by billionaire Stan Kroenke and his son Josh, have owned the club since 2011 and have always maintained a sustainable financial policy. They prioritise financial self-reliance, strictly adhere to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and avoid spending more than the club's revenue.
However, coach Arteta has succeeded in convincing the board to increase the transfer budget for the summer of 2025, in order to strengthen the squad and maintain the ambition to compete for titles.
