We might have a new king of esports gaming monitors on the way—one with fewer compromises than usual. Asus just launched the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W at Gamescom 2025.

Not only does it feature a 26.5-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD OLED display with a super-fast 540Hz refresh rate, it also has a dual-mode panel that can switch to an unprecedented 720Hz refresh rate when you drop the graphics resolution to 1080p.

Technically, Asus may not have the fastest monitor ever, as both Koorui and HKC have announced 750Hz 1080p monitors, but both use TN panels that can't even compete in terms of color, brightness, and viewing angles. They're from brands we don't see very often, and neither of them let you switch to a higher resolution when you don't need the speed .

Meanwhile, Asus doesn't just have OLED—it's a parallel OLED panel, which promises to significantly increase HDR brightness and is said to last longer. It also has a glossy coating, which makes for more vibrant colors and even blacker blacks than current OLED tech, provided you don't game in a brightly lit room (though Asus claims the coating minimizes glare "even in bright rooms").

Who needs a 540Hz display, let alone a 720Hz one? At that refresh rate, it seems like a confusing extra. But instead, users are engrossed in Asus’s stylish and gorgeous new silver and transparent plastic design. Transparent tech is near and dear to my heart, and the solid silver finish really makes it stand out in a sea of black-framed monitors.

Not only does it feature a new 540Hz panel, Asus also uses the newly launched "True Black" glossy coating, providing super clear images, excellent image quality and deep blacks in all lighting conditions. A top-notch combination that many people will surely love!

The monitor also gets a completely new aesthetic design with a new stand, silver finish, transparent back cover.

Asus focuses on connectivity, such as the DisplayPort 2.1a port that supports the UHBR20 standard with a bandwidth of 80 Gbps. The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W also comes with HDMI 2.1 for use with modern gaming consoles. As usual, the new Asus monitor also integrates OLED Care Pro technology and Neo Proximity proximity sensor.

At the bottom of the display the lighting feature design is updated with blue color.

Asus also typically offers a three-year warranty on OLED burn-in these days, and both newer panels from LG Display and Samsung Display have multiple safeguards against it.

Alongside the PG, Asus also launched the XG model with a 280Hz refresh rate, which is much cheaper. There is no official price or release date yet, but don't expect it to be cheap because Asus has chosen this groundbreaking panel and put in the effort to make a difference.

Smartphone has a huge 24 GB RAM, larger than a computer.
