Previously, the traditional Bac Ha horse race only took place in June each year and had become a major cultural event, attracting a large number of tourists. From November 2025, the locality will implement a series of weekly horse races, linked to the activities of the Bac Ha Horse Club.

As December arrives, the race enters its most exciting phase with the qualifying rounds. 32 jockeys compete in multiple races to select the best. A distinctive feature of the race is the 1,900-meter distance, a long course that demands endurance from the highland horses and strategic planning from the jockeys.
The final round took place in the last week of the month. After the knockout rounds, the four best jockeys, Vang Van Dien, Vang Van Pao, Lam Van U, and Giang Seo Vu, entered the decisive competition.

The stands erupted in cheers. On the racetrack, the strong horses were ready to start. When the signal sounded, all four jockeys galloped off to the enthusiastic applause of the spectators.

The race turned into a breathtaking chase between Vang Van Dien and Lam Van U. The two jockeys constantly stayed close together through every bend, maintaining a steady pace. With only a few hundred meters remaining, Vang Van Dien suddenly accelerated, making a powerful breakthrough and crossing the finish line first with a time of 2 minutes 05 seconds 37, winning the December 2025 weekly championship.

To ensure the race is safe and professional, the relevant authorities are working closely together, from ensuring security, order, medical services , and logistics to managing the technical aspects of the competition, allowing visitors to confidently immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the racetrack.
Maintaining regular horse racing enriches tourism products and opens up a sustainable path for Bac Ha. Besides the weekly market and ancient mansions, the sound of horse hooves every weekend has become a new highlight, contributing to spreading the image of the white plateau of Bac Ha more strongly on the tourism map.
