Vietnam Salt Festival - Bac Lieu 2025: Awakening the love of traditional professions of the young generation
On February 10, the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province held a press conference on organizing the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival in 2025: "100-year journey of salt profession - Human life".
Accordingly, to honor, preserve and develop the traditional salt profession, enhance the value of the Vietnamese salt profession in general, and of Bac Lieu province in particular, thereby arousing the love of traditional professions of the young generation with qualifications to participate in production, business and start-up activities from the salt profession.

Organize the production of Vietnam's salt industry in a modern direction, applying scientific and technical advances to production to improve productivity, quality and value of salt grains. At the same time, this is an opportunity to introduce and promote the image, people, potential, strengths and typical products of Bac Lieu to people and tourists at home and abroad.
According to the Organizing Committee, the Salt Festival will take place at two main locations: Bac Lieu City and Dong Hai District; officially opening at 8:00 p.m. on March 6 at Hung Vuong Square (Ward 1, Bac Lieu City).
Before the Opening Ceremony, the Organizing Committee will organize a field survey of the salt fields of Bac Lieu province and the inauguration ceremony of the Dong Hai salt field infrastructure upgrade project, Dong Hai district from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on March 6 at the salt fields of Bac Lieu province (Dien Hai commune, Long Dien Dong commune, Dong Hai district and Vinh Thinh commune, Hoa Binh district).

At this Festival, there will be outstanding activities such as: Exhibition space, introducing Salt, spices and OCOP products at the Vietnam Salt Festival - Bac Lieu (Expectedly about 100 booths introducing and displaying salt products, OCOP products of enterprises, salt products combined with tourism, salt production and processing cooperatives and equipment, production and processing technology, at Hung Vuong Square).

Activities "Going to Bac Lieu to listen to traditional music" and organizing a space to display models, artifacts, and technical advances in salt production and processing (at Cao Van Lau Theater, Ward 1, Bac Lieu City); Organizing tours to visit tourist attractions, historical sites, and organizing a workshop on "Orientation and solutions for developing Bac Lieu salt tourism products"; Bac Lieu province investment promotion conference in 2025 and the conference to review the implementation of Decree No. 40/2017/ND-CP dated April 5, 2017 of the Government on salt production and trading management and Bac Lieu Salt quality workshop, with the production process of Phu Quoc traditional fish sauce (taking place on March 7, at the Provincial Cultural Center); The workshop “Application of science and technology in salt production, adaptation to climate change”, took place at 8:00 a.m. on March 8 and the closing ceremony of the Salt Festival was held at 2:00 p.m. on March 8 at the Provincial Cultural Center.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee also coordinated with the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance to organize many activities such as: Trade promotion fair for the collective economic sector and cooperatives, with an expected scale of 100 booths; Signing ceremony of the cooperation program between the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee for the period 2025-2030 on the development of the collective economy and cooperatives;
The 13th Executive Committee Conference of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, term VI, 2020-2025; Conference on connecting trade and promoting trade for cooperatives; promoting technology application, innovation and digital transformation for cooperatives; Conference on disseminating regulations on borrowing capital from the Central Cooperative Support Fund for cooperatives, cooperative unions and members.
According to Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival 2025 is an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge in production, business, and processing of salt products and OCOP products among localities nationwide. Strengthening links and cooperation between salt production, processing, and trading agents within the salt industry and with other fields such as tourism, healthcare, and cuisine; at the same time, promoting historical, cultural, and heritage values of the salt industry in Bac Lieu and participating localities.
“The Festival is an event that is expected to not only promote Bac Lieu salt products in particular and Vietnam in general, but also create a driving force for economic, cultural and tourism connections. This will be an important milestone, contributing to preserving traditions, enhancing the value of Vietnamese salt grains and affirming the position of the salt industry in the domestic and international markets,” Mr. Pham Van Thieu emphasized.
