In response to this situation, water supply units proactively developed operational plans and response scenarios to ensure safe and stable water supply.
Prepare a plan.
According to statistics from the Department of Construction, the province currently has 29 water treatment plants with a total designed capacity of over 324,000 m³ /day; the actual operating capacity is approximately 222,000 m³ /day.
In addition, rural water supply projects managed by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center are also maintaining stable operation, contributing to meeting the domestic water needs of the people.

As the main supplier of domestic water to the central area of the province, Bac Giang Clean Water Joint Stock Company currently manages the Bac Giang Water Plant and the Doi Ngo Water Plant (Luc Nam commune) with a total designed capacity of 38,500 m³ /day, and is currently operating at approximately 31,000 m³ /day. At the same time, the company also purchases an average of 23,000 m³ /day from DNP - Bac Giang Water Infrastructure Investment Company Limited.
As of May 2026, the company is serving 78,411 customers, including 100% of the residents of Bac Giang and Da Mai wards, along with parts of other wards and communes, and the northern part of Song Khe Industrial Park. Statistics show that water consumption in May 2026 reached over 1.55 million m³ , an increase of approximately 3% compared to the same period in 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Head of Business Department of Bac Giang Clean Water Joint Stock Company, said that to achieve the goal of ensuring domestic water supply during the hot season, the company is strengthening water quality control from the source to post-treatment; increasing the frequency of sampling and monitoring during peak months; proactively stockpiling treatment chemicals and regularly flushing the water supply network. In addition, the company has deployed repair teams on duty 24/7 to promptly handle any incidents that may arise.
In Luc Nam commune, Doi Ngo Water Supply Enterprise has developed a plan to ensure a separate water supply for the summer of 2026. According to the unit's assessment, during peak hot days, water demand could reach a maximum of approximately 3,500 m³ /day, equivalent to the plant's designed capacity.
The unit has now completed the inspection and maintenance of all pumps, electrical systems, control cabinets, and chemical dosing systems; and maintains strict control over water quality... to ensure clean water quality according to current standards.
Encourage economical use.
At Bac Ninh Clean Water Joint Stock Company, the unit has also implemented many comprehensive solutions to ensure water supply for nearly 88,000 customers in the area. Currently, the total capacity of the company's water treatment plants reaches 126,500 m³ /day, including: Bac Ninh Surface Water Treatment Plant, Song Cau Water Treatment Plant, and the Gia Binh, Thua, and Cho water treatment plants.
According to the unit's forecast, water demand in the summer of 2026 will increase by approximately 8% compared to the previous year. The total system consumption capacity could reach 120,000 m³ /day in August and September.

Mr. Tran Khanh Tinh, Deputy General Director of Bac Ninh Clean Water Joint Stock Company, said: "The company developed its summer operation plan very early, proactively maintaining and repairing the pumping system, pumping stations, generators, and reservoirs."
In addition, the unit has also prepared sufficient supplies and chemicals as a backup; and developed contingency plans for situations such as prolonged power outages, localized water shortages, pipe bursts, leaks, equipment overload, or sudden contamination of raw water sources.
Currently, the Gia Binh Water Treatment Plant has a designed capacity of 6,000 m³ /day, supplying clean water to 8,200 customers. It is predicted that this summer, water demand may increase by 7%, reaching approximately 5,136 m³ /day during the peak period in August.
To meet demand, the unit has developed a plan to increase network pressure, add water supply connection points, and focus on resolving the weak water pressure issue in the Ngam Mac and Bao Thap areas. Equipment maintenance, preparation of backup generators, and stockpiling of materials and chemicals have also been fully implemented to ensure continuous water supply.
Besides technical solutions, water supply units also recommend that local authorities continue to coordinate in protecting water sources; create favorable conditions for the repair and upgrading of water supply infrastructure; advise people to use water economically and rationally; and regularly inspect the pipeline system, promptly addressing leaks and water loss.
People should proactively store water for daily use, especially during peak hot weather days; and avoid installing devices that draw water directly from the water supply pipe, as this affects the overall network pressure…
With the proactive efforts of water supply companies, the coordination of relevant agencies, and the people's awareness of water conservation, the work of ensuring clean water supply in the province during the summer of 2026 is expected to adequately meet the needs of daily life and production, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people and effectively serving the socio -economic development goals of the locality.
