Despite having to construct in a difficult terrain, without "favorable weather and terrain", the Government and people of Lao Cai province, Bac Ha district, Coc Lau commune, the Management Board and contractors are still persistent, tenacious, and tirelessly "carrying" each brick, each bag of sand, each bag of cement... with the determination to complete ahead of schedule as set by the Prime Minister.
Workers are working hard to build the reconstruction area.
1. With the attention and close direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, local authorities at all levels as well as the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group ( Petrovietnam ), the project to rebuild the Kho Vang residential area has gradually been formed and completed..., ahead of schedule, to the joy and admiration of the local people.
According to Mr. Ha Duc Thanh, Director of the Bac Ha District Construction Project Management Board, due to the urgent progress requirements, all units have made great efforts to overcome all difficulties and mobilize human resources to organize and maintain construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams". All items are strictly inspected, controlled, supervised and accepted according to the project's technical standards, ensuring quality, aesthetics and required progress.

We have also followed the construction process of the project – from when it was just an empty lot, until 35 sturdy houses appeared on the hillside; and truly admire the Management Board, Contractor and especially the engineers and workers who overcame all hardships to reach the "destination" as it is today.
At the construction site, I met Mr. Hoang Van Bay, an excavator operator, one of the five construction units here. Mr. Bay said that although he has worked as a construction worker for more than ten years at large and small construction sites, this is the first time he has participated in a "cassava" project like this.
To form the current land and traffic system, the construction unit had to level hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of earth and rock.
Just for the leveling part to make way for construction and construction vehicles, they had to excavate several hundred thousand cubic meters of earth and rock. Moreover, if the terrain was flat and there was no rain, dump trucks and trucks could run smoothly, but here the road was slippery and had many hairpin bends, so they often had to use tracked vehicles to push the trucks through difficult sections. Some vehicles even had broken axles and wheels that caused "traffic jams" and affected the leveling progress.
The entire residential area is located on a high hill, so to suit the terrain, the foundations of 35 houses are divided into 8 levels, each level is 1-2 m different, the highest level is at an altitude of 210 m above sea level. (Photo: Lao Cai Newspaper).
Construction worker Luu Van Tuan shared that because the construction is in a mountainous area, the ground is quite "soft", so digging the foundation and pouring concrete for the houses also takes a lot of materials and effort. In addition, after finishing the house, the workers have to continue to carry rocks and pour concrete to make "surrounding walls" for the "floors", ensuring absolute safety for the residents.
2. Up to now, all 35 houses in the resettlement area have had their roofs completed, their floors tiled and they have begun to be painted. Along with that, the contractors are urgently pouring concrete on the internal and external roads. Power lines and water pipes are also being pulled and installed to each house.

Present at the construction site on December 7, 2024, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hai, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged the efforts of the Management Board, contractors and workers. He also requested all parties to be more urgent and determined, "working during the day is not enough, working at night" with the goal of households moving into their new homes before December 20, 2024 (10 days earlier than the request of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ).
Mr. Nguyen Trong Hai requested Bac Ha district to direct construction units to closely follow the schedule, speed up the implementation of traffic projects, then urgently clear soil, rocks, and materials to plant trees to create a landscape. Before December 20, bring people to the reconstruction area so that they can arrange their houses, plant flowers, and make vegetable gardens to create an exciting atmosphere before the house handover day; along with ensuring the construction progress, it is necessary to pay attention to the quality and aesthetics of each project.
The workers worked very hard.
Following the direction of the provincial People's Committee, the contractors met and deployed hundreds of workers and engineers to carry out the construction of the resettlement area in "3 shifts, 4 shifts", regardless of the harsh weather to welcome people to their new homes according to the set plan.
Besides constructing 35 houses, workers are also focusing on completing and painting the cultural house and classrooms of the resettlement area.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Luc - directly in charge of the construction of the internal road section of the Kho Vang resettlement project shared: These days, we have mobilized the maximum number of engineers, workers, and equipment to transport box culverts, dig foundations, lower culverts, and prepare to pour concrete on the road surface. The weather is currently light rain, but the components have been proactively gathered, so it will not greatly affect the construction organization, the progress is following the set plan.
Materials have been gathered to complete the house.
According to Mr. Luu Van Hung, representative of 1 of 5 units constructing the Kho Vang resettlement area, the construction site is currently mobilizing over 100 workers, along with many bulldozers, excavators, cars, concrete mixers... working continuously day and night to complete the progress according to the plan.
Although the construction of the resettlement area encountered many obstacles in terms of terrain, weather and progress pressure, with high determination, the contractors coordinated and supported each other to overcome difficulties, maintaining the competitive spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain" to bring the project to the finish line on schedule.

With the spirit of hard work and determination of the Management Board, contractors, workers and engineers, we believe that on December 20, 2024, the first residents of the Kho Vang resettlement area will officially move to their new homes with endless joy and emotion.
On the once desolate hillsides, solid roofs, clean concrete roads, and rows of green trees will appear to welcome a new life. Laughter echoes in the peaceful space, signaling a bright start for many families who have endured many hardships and difficulties.
Believe that on December 20, 2024, the first residents of Kho Vang resettlement area will officially move to their new home with endless joy and emotion.
The resettlement project of Kho Vang village is not only a testament to the efforts of contractors, workers, authorities and people to overcome difficulties, but also a symbol of the determination to “leave no one behind”. Each block of concrete, each meter of road, each brick contains the spirit of solidarity and belief in a better future.
Kho Vang resettlement area is now not only a place to live, but also a symbol of rebirth, the origin of new dreams, beautiful stories will continue to be written on this land.
