Báo Đại Đoàn KếtBáo Đại Đoàn Kết28/06/2024

After finishing the two morning exam groups, teachers of HOCMAI Education System had the following preliminary comments on the exam:

Structural stability science complex, requires application skills

According to teachers: This year's combined exam of Natural Sciences maintains stability in structure and format compared to previous years, each subject of Physics, Chemistry and Biology consists of 40 questions with a test time of 50 minutes. The content of the exam ensures the goal of considering high school graduation recognition, with appropriate differentiation for the goal of university admission. The questions are mostly from the 12th grade program (accounting for 90% of the questions in the exam), the rest is knowledge from the 11th grade program. About 70-75% of the questions are at the Recognition and Comprehension level, 25%-30% of the remaining questions are at the Application and High Application levels.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will completely change the structure and format of the questions to meet the competency assessment orientation according to the requirements of the 2018 program. The content of the questions in the 2025 high school graduation exam will be linked to meaningful contexts related to the practice and application of each subject in life, science and technology. The new multiple choice test formats are suitable for designing exams according to the competency assessment orientation, while improving the ability to classify candidates. Therefore, 2K7 students need to have a scientific review plan and roadmap to be ready for any changes in the exam.

Details about each subject in the Natural Science exam:

Physics:

The Physics exam is kept stable in terms of content structure as the official exam in 2023 and similar to the High School Graduation Reference Exam that the Ministry of Education and Training announced on March 22, 2024. The exam consists of 45% (18 questions) of the questions in the exam being calculation exercises, 55% (22 questions) of the number of theoretical questions. The difficult questions of the exam still fall into familiar topics in the Physics 12 program: Mechanical oscillation, Mechanical waves and sound waves, Alternating current and Light waves. The number of difficult questions in specific topics is as follows: Mechanical oscillation: 1 question on spring pendulum oscillation; Mechanical waves and sound waves: 1 question on mechanical wave interference; Alternating current: 1 question on electric circuits containing closed boxes combined with frequency-dependent voltage graphs; Light waves: 1 question on monochromatic light wave interference.

Chemistry:

The test is not too difficult, with 75% of the questions (30/40 questions) at the Recognition - Understanding level, 25% of the questions (10/40 questions) at the Application - High Application level. In the questions with a score of 7.5 - 10 points, there is 1 question from grade 11, the rest are from the grade 12 program with a difficulty level equivalent to the 2023 Chemistry high school graduation exam. The test does not have any questions that fall into the reduced knowledge section. In the proposed test, there are some calculation questions related to real life, aiming to test the candidate's ability to apply the knowledge learned to life.

Biology:

The exam follows the content structure as announced by the Ministry of Education and Training through the reference exam on March 22, 2024. The exam is suitable for the graduation recognition goal, with good differentiation for university admission. The exam is innovated in the direction of assessing capacity, reducing calculation factors, increasing student nature, candidates need skills to read pictures, tables and diagrams. Regarding the difficulty of the exam, 60% of the questions are at the recognition and understanding level, suitable for the graduation assessment goal. Only 40% of the questions are used for differentiation, of which about 10% are high-level application questions.

There are 4 questions from the 11th grade program in Chapter I - Transformation of matter and energy, questions at the level of recognition and understanding, no new content. There are 90% of the questions from the 12th grade program, distributed including 11 questions on Genetic Mechanism and Variation. 5 questions on the Law of Genetics have a significant decrease in this form, proving that the exam has gone into the essence of Biology. The exam has 1 question on human genetics, 2 questions on applied genetics, 3 questions on population genetics, 4 questions on Evolution and 11 questions on Ecology.

Regarding the difficulty of the test and the score range of Biology: In general, with the current level of test, candidates can be completely assured with the goal of graduation score consideration. Just by reviewing and mastering the knowledge of the textbook, candidates can easily achieve 5 to 6 points. To achieve 7-8, candidates must understand Biology very carefully, to achieve 9-10 is relatively difficult because the test is long and candidates must have the ability to process quickly. Therefore, the peak of the score range can be at 5.5-6.5 points. The test is not too difficult but long, good students and those with good skills can achieve 10 points.

Social Science group average score from 7-8 points

According to teachers, the 2024 high school graduation exam is approaching the new question format. This year's social science combination exam has questions approaching the new question format of the 2025 high school graduation exam while still ensuring the standard structure and format of the high school graduation exam as announced by the Ministry of Education and Training. Each component subject of the exam consists of 40 questions, the test time is 50 minutes, ensuring the goal of recognizing high school graduation, with appropriate differentiation for university admission. The expected score range for each subject in the social science combination exam will be around 7-8 points.

History

Compared to the official exam in 2023 and the reference exam on March 22, 2024, the official exam in 2023 has the same level of difficulty, the exam content has a new point: the exam appears in the form of questions similar to the way the exam was created in 2025 (according to the sample exam announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on December 29, 2023), for example, questions 32 and 37, code 309: students are given a passage of information and asked to answer the question based on the passage of information. 90% of the total number of questions in the exam are from grade 12 knowledge and 10% of the questions are from grade 11 - including 2 questions on Vietnamese history and 2 questions on world history. The exam has a ratio of recognition and comprehension questions compared to application and high application questions similar to the reference exam on March 22, 2024, but has a high classification due to the increased difficulty of the high application questions.

80% of the recognition and understanding questions are basic knowledge, the interference between the options is not high, candidates can easily choose the correct answer. Besides, there are still questions related to determining the location of the country, or revolutionary movements (related to geographical knowledge) for example question 9, question 15 (code 309). 20% of the questions are in the application - high application section, spread evenly across the topics of Vietnamese history from 1919 to 1975, there are no questions in the world history section. The questions mainly revolve around the form of comparison (4 questions: 31, 34, 39, 40 code 309), inter-topic (question 29 - code 310), linking world history knowledge - Vietnamese history or commenting, summarizing the whole historical period to find out the characteristics. In particular, there are 3 questions about the activities of Nguyen Ai Quoc in different periods in the new 12th grade history program. The appearance of many questions related to Nguyen Ai Quoc shows the closeness of content with the curriculum and exam questions next year.

Geography:

The exam is entirely within the 12th grade curriculum, there are no theoretical questions related to the 11th grade knowledge content but there are 2 questions practicing data tables and charts using data from the 11th grade. The exam has the same structure and difficulty level as the reference exam on March 22, 2024. The ratio of theoretical/practical questions is 52.5%/47.5%. The ratio of Recognition, Comprehension/Application and High Application questions is 75%/25%. In the Recognition question group, there are 15 questions using Atlas. 25% of the questions at the Application - High Application level focus on the topics of Geography of economic regions and Geography of economic sectors.

For the Geography skills practice section, similar to the Reference and 2023 exam questions, the questions using the Vietnam Geography Atlas this year do not specify the page number but the name of the Atlas page that students need to use. With this new point, to exploit this document well and quickly, students need to have a firm grasp of what content each Atlas page represents during the review process. The chart and data table section does not have a new type of exercise, candidates must still have basic calculation skills to comment on charts and data tables. In addition, candidates need to have a firm grasp of the characteristics of the chart types to identify and name the chart correctly.

Questions 76, 77, 78, 80 (code 308) are difficult questions because they delve into a small problem, and the options have high noise levels that can easily cause confusion. Especially question 80, candidates need to apply interdisciplinary knowledge of natural geography and regional geography to solve. The test does not contain comparison questions, and there are no current affairs questions. The test ensures the goal of considering high school graduation recognition, with appropriate differentiation for university admission goals.

Civic Education:

The test is at the same level as the reference test on March 22, 2024, which is the last subject in the Social Sciences test. Of which, 90% of the total number of questions are from grade 12 knowledge and 10% are from grade 11, remaining stable as in previous years and similar to the reference test announced by the Ministry of Education and Training. Particularly for grade 12 questions, nearly 70% of the questions are from the first semester knowledge. 75% of the questions in the test are at the Recognition - Comprehension level. Candidates only need to have a firm grasp of the knowledge in the textbook to be able to achieve a score of 7 - 8. 25% of the questions at the Application and High Application levels focus on grade 12 topics, these are questions related to reality, some questions synthesize knowledge from many lessons such as question 116 (code 322). In particular, the extremely difficult questions: 113, 114, 117, 118 code 322 are complex situational questions, with many details and characters, requiring the combination of many knowledges, and high interference. Candidates must have a firm grasp of theoretical knowledge and analyze every detail of the situation to find the answer.

In particular, the exam has a new type of question, approaching the way it was set for 2025, requiring students to count the number of correct statements based on the given exam materials, for example, questions 102 and 117, code 322. Candidates need to have comprehensive knowledge and analytical ability to determine the correct number of statements according to the exam requirements.

In the social science exam, according to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, 63% of candidates chose the social science exam out of more than 1 million candidates registered for the high school graduation exam, the highest in the past 6 years.
Meanwhile, only 37% chose the Natural Science exam (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). Compared to last year, the number of candidates choosing the Social Science exam increased by 7.7% and is the highest in the past 6 years. From 2018 to now, the number of candidates registering for this exam is about 48-56%. This also shows the fierce competition from candidates choosing the Social Science exam combination.
