After only 3 months of "full package" cooperation with Pacific Airlines to provide ground services, Bamboo Airways continues to change its plan. Accordingly, the airline will provide check-in services itself, while the remaining parking equipment will still be provided by Pacific Airlines.
According to Bamboo Airways, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has approved Bamboo Airways' Ground Operations Document. Thereby, the airline has full legal basis to deploy ground services at domestic airports, contributing to improving and synchronizing the quality of the airline's services from the ground to the air.
Bamboo Airways representative said that the airline is actively preparing all resources to directly deploy self-service ground services instead of hiring outside partners.
In the immediate future, the airline has sent an official dispatch to agencies and units to notify about the takeover of an important area that greatly affects the quality of ground services, which is the passenger service area in the terminal, including check-in procedures for passengers, luggage, and services at the departure gate at Tan Son Nhat airport from March 1, 2024. The upcoming direction will be self-service at Noi Bai airport.
Self-deploying ground services will allow Bamboo Airways to better control service quality and optimize operating costs; increasing the airline's initiative in operations, especially during peak periods.
So where does the airline's ground service resources come from? According to Bamboo Airways, the airline will use part of the surplus human resources, which are flight attendants, due to the reduction in the size of its aircraft.
These flight attendants will be further trained to serve passengers at the airport. This is also Bamboo Airways' solution to ensure brand recognition, improve and synchronize the quality of the airline's services from the ground to the air in the next phase.
Bamboo Airways aims to reduce losses to 1,000 billion
Previously, Pacific Airlines was the ground service provider for Bamboo Airways from January 1, 2024, after the airline terminated its contract with ground service unit SAGS.
Pacific Airlines has provided Bamboo Airways with services such as check-in, transporting passengers to the aircraft, loading luggage, cleaning on board... The airline's operations during the transition period to ground service providers have always been guaranteed, without causing major disruptions or affecting the flight experience of passengers.
Bamboo Airways aims to reduce its operating loss to around VND1,000 billion compared to VND4,000 - 5,000 billion per year in the previous 5 years, aiming to break even in 2025.
