On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan congratulated Major General Hoang Kim Phung on successfully completing his mission as Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department. Major General Hoang Kim Phung will retire from April 1, 2023.
The Ministry of National Defense has issued a decision to appoint Colonel Pham Manh Thang, from the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of National Defense) to the position of Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, succeeding Major General Hoang Kim Phung.
Major General Hoang Kim Phung has made great contributions in the early stages of establishing the Peacekeeping Force, from conducting field surveys at the Missions that Vietnam could deploy to building, consolidating and developing the force. Over the past 9 years, since Vietnam deployed its forces to the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions, Major General Hoang Kim Phung has made important contributions to the outstanding achievements of Vietnam's United Nations Peacekeeping Force.
Since 2014, Vietnam has deployed 533 cadres and staff, including 529 military officers and 4 police officers, to participate in United Nations peacekeeping activities at missions and the United Nations headquarters in New York (USA). Vietnam has increasingly participated in United Nations peacekeeping activities with results recognized and highly appreciated by the United Nations, leaving good impressions on the government, people of the host country and international friends. The image of Vietnamese blue beret soldiers, the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era, has been widely spread, leaving a positive and strong impression in the hearts of the people and overseas Vietnamese, and is respected and loved by international friends. In recognition of the outstanding achievements of Major General Hoang Kim Phung during the performance of his duties, he was honored to be awarded the First Class Fatherland Protection Medalby the President .
At the Conference, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan acknowledged and commended the contributions of Major General Hoang Kim Phung during his tenure as leader of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department; highly appreciated the performance of the Vietnam United Nations Peacekeeping Force in recent years.
Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested Colonel Pham Manh Thang to quickly adapt to his new duties and responsibilities, and work together with all officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department to continue promoting the achievements gained in the past time, creating new steps for Vietnam in participating in UN peacekeeping activities in the coming time. Colonel Pham Manh Thang has many years of experience in foreign affairs, performing various defense foreign affairs tasks and command and management experience at the Foreign Affairs Department.
Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested relevant agencies and units to carry out the handover carefully and closely, ensuring that the Party Committee, commanders, and all officers, employees, and comrades currently performing tasks in the area can work with peace of mind.
At the conference, Major General Hoang Kim Phung expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, Central Military Commission, Chief of the Ministry of National Defense, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; central departments, ministries and branches; agencies and units inside and outside the Army; news agencies and press for always closely leading, directing, accompanying, supporting and helping the Vietnam Peacekeeping Force and personally the Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department for nearly 10 years.
Major General Hoang Kim Phung congratulated Colonel Pham Manh Thang on his new position, believing that under the leadership, support and facilitation of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and his leadership and command, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department will continue to achieve new successes in carrying out its tasks.
Colonel Pham Manh Thang expressed his gratitude for the attention of the Central Military Commission and the head of the Ministry of National Defense for their trust, support and entrusting him with the important responsibility of taking on the position of Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department. He expressed that this was an honor but also a heavy responsibility; he promised to work with the Party Committee, Commander, officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department to maintain and promote the good results that have been achieved, build a united unit, excellently complete assigned tasks, continue to build and develop the Peacekeeping Force to become increasingly mature and strong, actively contributing to the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
