On the final competition day (May 16) of the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 12 more gold medals, ending the journey at the regional congress with 136 gold medals, 105 silver medals, and 114 bronze medals to lead the medal tally.

With an overwhelming victory in the men's K1 -67kg final against his Filipino opponent, kick-boxer Nguyen Hoang officially won the 136th gold medal, which was also the final gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 32nd SEA Games.
With a total of 136 gold medals, the Vietnamese delegation had a successful congress beyond expectations, far exceeding the set target (winning from 89-120 gold medals). Notably, this was the first time the Vietnamese sports delegation ranked first overall at the SEA Games on away ground. In this congress, the Vietnamese delegation even surpassed the second-placed team, Thailand, by 28 gold medals.
On the final day of competition on May 16, the Vietnamese sports delegation continued to make their mark with meaningful victories. Wrestling was worthy of being called the “gold mine” of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 32nd SEA Games when it won a total of 13 gold medals after 3 days of competition. On the final day of competition on May 16, the Vietnamese wrestling team won 4/6 gold medals in the men's freestyle wrestling categories: Nguyen Xuan Dinh (65kg), Ngo The Sao (70kg), Can Tat Du (74kg) and Ngo Van Lam (92kg).
The Vietnamese weightlifting team had a successful competition day on May 16 with two gold medals won by Nguyen Quoc Toan (men's 89kg category) and Tran Dinh Thang (over 89kg category). Meanwhile, the Vietnamese fencing team won the first gold medal in the men's team sabre event at the SEA Games.
