On the evening of July 27, the Vietnam U23 team returned to the training ground in Jakarta to prepare for the final match with host U23 Indonesia at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship taking place at 8:00 p.m. on July 29.
After spending a whole day resting and recovering with light exercises in the gym, the players quickly regained their physical and mental condition. All showed great concentration and determination.
The good news for the Vietnam U23 team is that those with minor injuries such as central defender Pham Ly Duc, striker Nguyen Dinh Bac and Quoc Viet have returned to normal training and completed the training plan set out by the coaching staff.
During the training session, head coach Kim Sang Sik focused on honing tactical skills, adjusting the team's formation and implementing attack and defense strategies.
In particular, improving finishing is what the Korean coach focuses on the most, to help the whole team prepare most thoroughly for the upcoming important match.
Regarding personnel, coach Kim Sang Sik is also making careful calculations to select the optimal lineup for the Vietnam U23 team, ensuring a balance between experience, form and physical condition.
Because in addition to the home field advantage, U23 Indonesia has also shown that it is the strongest opponent since the beginning of the tournament compared to the U23 Vietnam team. Therefore, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team must focus on preparing in the best way possible to win.
This is the third consecutive time that U23 Vietnam has participated in the final match of the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, after winning the championship twice in 2022 and 2023. But this is the first time that coach Kim Sang Sik has led U23 Vietnam to the final match of the tournament.
