Throughout May, images of trade union officials providing assistance to union members in difficult circumstances, dialogues between employers and employees, and activities honoring outstanding workers continuously appeared in print, online, radio, and television media. Behind each news item was close cooperation between trade unions and media outlets, all working towards the common goal of supporting workers. Just during the 2026 Workers' Month alone, nearly 40 news articles and reports on the activities of trade unions at all levels in the province were published on various media platforms of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio & Television.
Journalist Vu Thi Nhan, a reporter from the News Department of Lang Son Newspaper, Radio, and Television, said: "I always focus on promptly reporting these activities, while also introducing good models and effective methods to spread them more widely among trade union levels. Through my journalistic works, I hope to spread positive values and convey the thoughts and aspirations of workers to all levels and sectors."
Currently, the province has over 200 grassroots trade unions and labor unions with nearly 17,000 members and workers. With a large number of members and a wide geographical area of operation spanning many fields and industries, delivering information to each member is always a crucial requirement. In this context, the press has become an effective bridge between trade union organizations and workers.
Mr. Luong Chi Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union (LĐLĐ), Head of the Trade Union Affairs Committee, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, stated: For many years, the Provincial Labor Union and local media agencies have maintained a coordination mechanism in propaganda work through the "Labor - Trade Union" column. Thanks to this, the workers' movement and trade union activities have been regularly and continuously reflected in various media outlets. Through news articles and reports, many policies and guidelines related to workers have been promptly conveyed to union members; good models and effective practices from the grassroots level have been disseminated. This has contributed to raising workers' awareness of the role and position of trade unions, creating consensus within enterprises and society regarding trade union activities.
On average, over 200 news articles, reports, and features are published annually in the province's print, online, radio, and television media. Many examples of workers overcoming difficulties and engaging in creative labor, dedicated trade union officials, and effective welfare models have been widely publicized, creating a positive ripple effect.
Ms. Nong Thi Xuyen, Chairwoman of the Trade Union Branch of Duc Quy Import-Export Production and Investment Company Limited, Tan Tien commune, shared: "The company's trade union branch currently has 45 members. I regularly follow news and articles about trade union activities in the press. Through that, I have learned many good models and creative approaches from other trade union branches, especially the experiences of outstanding grassroots trade union chairpersons. From that, I have more ideas to innovate activities and better care for union members and workers in the enterprise."
The effectiveness of this collaboration is also demonstrated through the development of union membership and the establishment of grassroots trade unions. In 2025, the entire province will establish 11 new grassroots trade unions outside the state sector with 25 or more employees; and recruit over 870 new members. Notably, from the beginning of 2026 to the present, the entire province has established 24 new grassroots trade unions and 1 grassroots trade union with over 950 new members.
The collaboration between the press and trade unions not only creates valuable works but also contributes to building stronger trade union organizations, truly making them a reliable support for union members and workers in the new era.
