Ensuring direction and operation of natural disaster prevention and control

Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai has just signed a document requesting the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement Resolution No. 102/NQ-CP dated June 29, 2024 of the Government (Resolution 102) on ensuring the direction and operation of natural disaster prevention and control during the period of perfecting the civil defense command and direction agencies at all levels.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to strictly implement the contents of Resolution 102 of the Government.

In Resolution 102, the Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to continue using existing organizational apparatus, means and equipment to organize monitoring, supervision and direction of natural disaster prevention and control work (including the organization of reservoir operations according to the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedures on river basins).

At the same time, advise the Government and the Prime Minister to direct the work of natural disaster prevention and control in accordance with the provisions of the law on natural disaster prevention and control from July 1, 2024 until the time when the National Civil Defense Steering Committee and the Civil Defense Command Committees at all levels are completed in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Civil Defense and come into operation. Thereby, in order to ensure that the work of natural disaster prevention and control is operated smoothly, promptly, effectively, without gaps or interruptions in the work of monitoring, supervising, advising, directing, and operating natural disaster prevention and control (especially at present, which is the peak period of risk of storms, floods, etc.)

Armed forces participate in supporting people to overcome damage caused by natural disasters in Phan Thiet City.

It is known that, according to the provisions of the Law on Civil Defense, from July 1, 2024, the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue at all levels will be changed to the Command Committee for Civil Defense at all levels. Accordingly, the Standing Agency is the Military Agency at the same level (at the provincial level, it is the Provincial Military Command).
