Bao Nhai's greatest potential lies in its diverse and unique primary forest ecosystem. The protected forests here contain many rare and valuable timber species, a "gem" bestowed by nature and a core foundation for the development of ecotourism . Among them, the rare ancient forest in Coc Sam village, covering over 161 hectares, comprises 493 ironwood trees and 131 teak trees. This is a collection of rare timber trees that is being strictly protected by local authorities, agencies, and residents.

Beyond its forestry value, the precious timber forest in Coc Sam also opens up opportunities for developing unique ecotourism products. Visitors can participate in forest exploration tours, learn about conservation processes, identify rare plant species, and listen to stories about the close relationship between local people and the forest. This not only provides an enjoyable experience but also contributes to raising awareness about environmental protection and biodiversity.

To ensure the preservation of forest resources, forest protection is always a top priority. Mr. Dang Van Toan, Head of the Bac Ha Forest Ranger Station, stated: “Every week, the forest protection team conducts rigorous inspections. Upon detecting any acts of illegal logging or deforestation, we report them to the relevant authorities and local government for appropriate legal action. The awareness of forest protection among the local community, combined with the strict management of the authorities, forms a solid shield for this ecological heritage.”

Bao Nhai's tourism development strategy focuses on creating a chain of interconnected destinations, offering diverse and attractive exploration experiences for tourists.

Mr. Tran Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bao Nhai commune, shared: "The commune is researching and developing a chain of interconnected tourist destinations, creating diverse exploration itineraries that go beyond simply sightseeing. Some important destinations that will be connected include: Trung Do Temple, the May Grass Hill, Tien Cave, the cluster of ironwood and teak trees..."

Although tourist transportation on the Chay River has not yet been implemented due to legal obstacles and safety requirements, this waterway still plays a central role in the landscape. The clear, tranquil beauty of the river, reflecting the mountains and forests, is an indispensable backdrop, adding aesthetic value to the tourist destinations along its banks and the viewing areas from above.

The potential of Bao Nhai is confirmed through real-life experiences and positive reviews from tourists. Ms. Tran Thi Hien from Bac Ha commune shared her feelings after the trip: "Besides the majestic mountains and forests, the area of wild grass hills and the cluster of ancient ironwood and teak trees in Coc Sam village left me with many unforgettable impressions."

To ensure the effective exploitation of tourism potential without harming ecological values, Bao Nhai has chosen community-based ecotourism as its strategic direction. This model not only helps conserve nature but also brings direct benefits and enhances the role of local people. Local people will directly benefit from tourism services through providing homestay accommodation, local cuisine , handicrafts, etc.

However, Bảo Nhai's tourism development still faces challenges regarding infrastructure. Mr. Tran Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Bảo Nhai Commune People's Committee, added: “Upgrading transportation, accommodation, and service infrastructure is necessary to accommodate a larger number of tourists and improve service quality. In the coming time, the locality will focus on improving transportation to destinations such as Trung Do Temple, the Co May Hill, and the rare timber forest... ensuring safety and convenience for both locals and tourists. We will encourage investment in standard accommodation facilities, diversifying from community homestays to small-scale, environmentally friendly eco-resorts. We will also organize training courses on tourism skills, communication skills, and conservation knowledge for local people to improve service quality.”

It is believed that, with the government's determination to build a product supply chain, the community's strong conservation awareness, and positive feedback from tourists, Bao Nhai will have solid "leverage" for sustainable ecotourism development.
