Storm No. 1 makes landfall

At around 9:30 a.m. on July 18, information from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Quang Ninh province said that the eye of storm No. 1 is expected to enter the area between Quang Ninh and Dongxing (China) with a strong intensity of level 8-9, gusting to level 10-11.

At 9:00 a.m. this morning (July 18), the center of storm No. 1 was at about 21.6 degrees north latitude; 1089.3 degrees east longitude, about 60 - 70 km east southeast of Mong Cai (Quang Ninh). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 10 (89 - 117 km/h), gusting to level 13 (down 1 level compared to 4:00 a.m. this morning).
