According to local people, due to the impact of storms No. 5 and No. 6 recently causing heavy rain in Linh Son commune, at 22:00 on August 25, 2025, at Phong Khong hill area, Nguyen Trai village, a large crack appeared, accompanied by a landslide with a length of about 280 meters, a width of about 0.4 meters, a height of about 40 meters, the rock and soil at the foot of the hill collapsed into the houses of households. Currently, on the slope of Phong Khong hill, there is still a very large amount of rock and soil, at risk of landslides and burying the houses of households living at the foot of the hill.

Immediately after the incident, the People's Committee of Linh Son commune organized an emergency evacuation of 16 households/54 people living at the foot of the hill with high risk of landslides to a safe place. At the same time, warning signs were put up to prevent people from passing through areas at risk of landslides.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan in Nguyen Trai village, Linh Son commune, said that immediately after signs of landslides appeared on the hill, the commune authorities evacuated households to other places to ensure safety. However, houses and properties are still in areas at risk of landslides, and we hope to have a suitable plan to help households return to normal life.

Currently, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, the Civil Defense Command of Linh Son commune has urgently mobilized forces and means together with local people to organize the evacuation of people and property of households to a safe place. However, the landslides in this area tend to continue to develop in a complex and unpredictable manner, especially when there is rain and flood, so people have not been able to return to their homes to live.

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Nguyen on Nguyen Trai Street, Linh Son Commune said that his family is living in the area of the landslide on the anti-aircraft hill. Right after the hill had cracks and landslides, the commune evacuated his family to a safe place. However, it has been more than a month now, and the commune has not yet overcome this landslide situation. While the households here mainly do business, but have to evacuate, so they have no income, affecting their lives. He requested that the authorities promptly handle the cracks and landslides to ensure the property and lives of the households around the area.

According to Mr. Ha Van Hoai, Vice Chairman of Linh Son Commune People's Committee, immediately after discovering the cracks and the risk of landslides on the hill, the Commune People's Committee evacuated the households. On September 3, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee announced an emergency decision on the Air Defense Hill. The commune is currently looking for ways to urgently fix the problem and waiting for the province to provide funding to handle it. In the coming time, it is recommended that departments and branches advise the Provincial People's Committee to soon have a policy to handle the landslide, so that people can return to normal life.

Currently, the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision to declare a landslide emergency at Phong Khong Hill, Nguyen Trai Village, Linh Son Commune, and take measures to ensure the safety of people and property. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Linh Son Commune to deploy necessary measures to ensure the safety of people and property of households living in areas at risk of landslides. Organize regular, closely monitor the development of landslides and promptly report to competent authorities when dangerous situations occur, as well as set up barriers, put up warning signs within the landslide area and inform and propagate to people and units in the area to proactively prevent, absolutely do not allow people to enter dangerous areas, especially when rain and floods occur.

In addition, the People's Committee of Linh Son commune must urgently develop, approve and implement a response plan in accordance with regulations, ensuring the safety of people and property according to the "4 on-site" motto. Implement appropriate reinforcement measures to limit the development of landslides; provide adequate food, provisions and essential necessities for displaced people.

Regarding remedial measures, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Linh Son commune to survey and specifically assess the scope, scale, and extent of landslides and determine appropriate treatment options, report to competent authorities for consideration, decide on financial support for investment and implementation, ensuring long-term stability in accordance with the provisions of law.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to urgently preside over and coordinate with relevant units to study the dossier of landslide treatment plan and the proposals and recommendations of the People's Committee of Linh Son commune; based on current legal regulations, to have opinions and proposals for competent authorities to consider and decide on financial support to handle and overcome landslides in the above-mentioned area, and report to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee the implementation results no later than 20 days after receiving the request of the People's Committee of Linh Son commune... However, up to now, the government has not yet had a plan to thoroughly handle landslides, helping people return to a stable life.
