On the afternoon of May 20th, the Heartbeat of Love Club, the Youth Union of Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, in coordination with the Youth Union of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Da Nang City Police, organized the program "Brave Steps - A Journey to Experience Being a Firefighter" for child patients with leukemia, thalassemia, and other children undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The program offers meaningful experiential activities, contributing to the well-being of child patients, while also spreading humanitarian values and raising awareness about fire prevention and control in the community.

The experience of being a firefighter also provides children with a positive, engaging, and motivating learning environment during their treatment journey.
Temporarily forgetting their fatigue from illness, the children eagerly participated in a journey to transform themselves into brave firefighters.
Dressed in specialized uniforms and well-fitting protective helmets, the children learned about specialized equipment and tools used in firefighting; experienced practical firefighting under the guidance of fire police officers; and toured and explored modern firefighting robots…
More than just a fun activity, the experience of being a firefighter also contributes to life skills education and equips children with basic fire safety knowledge so they know how to respond in case of an emergency.

The children's faces lit up with laughter and delight as they touched devices they had only ever seen on television before.
The sight of tiny hands firmly gripping the water hoses or eyes intently watching the fire hoses extinguishing the simulated fire moved many parents. Despite their limited health, many children were eager and made every effort to complete the activities.
Seeing her child smiling and participating in the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (34 years old, Hoi An ward, Da Nang) also felt happy. It had been a long time since she had seen her child so happy.
"Since hearing that they would get to be firefighters, my child has been very happy and excited. Every day they ask if they're going to be firefighters soon. I'm very grateful to the organizers for caring about the children, providing them with fun and beneficial experiences, helping them to have fun and forget their pain, and giving them more strength to continue fighting their illness," said Ms. Hue.
