According to the hospital's report, from January 2018 to November 2025, the hospital treated more than 7,500 stroke patients, ranking among the top in the country in terms of number of patients.
To achieve the Diamond quality standard certification of the World Stroke Organization (WSO), stroke treatment units must meet a set of strict criteria such as: The rate of ischemic stroke patients treated with thrombolysis within 60 minutes must reach 75%; The rate of ischemic stroke patients who have started thrombectomy with instruments within 120 minutes of admission must reach 75%; The rate of revascularization treatment must reach 25%; The rate of suspected stroke patients who receive CT scan or MRI must reach 90%...
In addition, criteria such as the rate of ischemic stroke patients using antiplatelet drugs; receiving anticoagulant treatment upon discharge; and being screened for swallowing dysfunction must all reach 90%.
Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Tuong Quang, Director of Thong Nhat General Hospital said: Diamond Certification in stroke treatment is a milestone of special significance in the hospital's professional development. To achieve this certification, the entire team from the departments: Emergency, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Physical Therapy - Rehabilitation... must coordinate smoothly in receiving, diagnosing and treating, and restoring movement after intervention for patients.

“We will continuously improve the process of receiving, resuscitating and treating stroke patients; invest more heavily in human resources and equipment to continue to maintain this certification with the goal of saving stroke patients from disability and returning to normal life,” Dr. Quang emphasized.
Thus, after Dong Nai General Hospital, Thong Nhat General Hospital is the second unit in the province to achieve the highest certification in stroke treatment.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huy Thang, Vice President of the Vietnam Stroke Association, said: This is a proud achievement, demonstrating the province's serious investment in developing standard stroke centers, helping patients benefit from advances in emergency care and treatment. From there, Dong Nai people will have access to emergency care and stroke treatment right at hospitals in the province, minimizing the need to transfer to Ho Chi Minh City, helping patients receive timely and more effective intervention.
