On the afternoon of February 17th, the Thailand U.20 team faced the South Korea U.20 team in the second match of Group D at the 2025 AFC U.20 Championship finals. In their opening match, the "War Elephants" suffered a 0-3 defeat against Japan U.20. Therefore, the Thai team needed at least one point against South Korea U.20 to have any chance of advancing to the next round.

The highly-rated South Korean U20 team showed their strength right from the start of the match. The young players from the land of kimchi surged forward in attack, creating suffocating pressure on the Thai U20 defense. For the first 15 minutes, the ball almost exclusively stayed in the Southeast Asian team's half of the field.

However, a surprise occurred in the first half when the U20 Thailand team, unable to control possession, took the lead. From a quick counter-attack in the 20th minute, a teammate played a through pass to Yotsakon Burapha, who decisively finished past the U20 South Korea goalkeeper, giving the "War Elephants" the opening goal.

South Korea staged an impressive comeback against Thailand in the second half.

Having taken the lead, the U20 Thailand team continued to play defensively, focusing on compact defense. Conversely, U20 South Korea were forced to increase the pressure. It wasn't until the 32nd minute that a goal came to bring the game back to a tie. Following a corner kick from the left wing, Yoon Do-yong seized the opportunity to tap the ball into the net from close range, leveling the score at 1-1 against U20 South Korea.
