Turning mangrove forests in the heart of economic zones into attractive tourist destinations

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024, Bau Ca Cai (Thuan Phuoc village, Binh Thuan commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province) becomes a tourist destination that attracts many locals and tourists.

Located in the heart of Dung Quat economic zone with many vibrant technological production activities, Bau Ca Cai is like a "green lung", helping to regulate the air.

Over time, under the impact of climate change, the white starfruit tree - a native tree species - has seriously declined. From 2024, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in collaboration with the Government and the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province will implement the Bau Ca Cai mangrove forest restoration project.

With the support of GCF-UNDP, many households have had more jobs, both protecting the forest, exploiting aquatic resources and starting eco-tourism business. Bau Ca Cai community tourism group has also been established.

To promote advantages, promote community tourism development, and create conditions for people to have sustainable livelihoods, the local government decided to choose 2024 as "Bau Ca Cai Community Tourism Year".
