On December 28, the Binh Phuoc Provincial Statistics Office held a press conference to announce socio-economic statistics for 2023. Accordingly, Binh Phuoc 's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2023 increased sharply compared to the same period in 2022 thanks to the recovery and strong development in many industries and fields, especially the agricultural sector increased by 10.25%, contributing 3.21 percentage points to the province's GRDP.

Growth rate Top in Southeast region

In 2023, GRDP in the province will reach VND 54,894.49 billion, an increase of 8.34% compared to 2022. Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector will reach VND 17,513.34 billion, an increase of 10.25%; the industry and construction sector will reach VND 17,205.78 billion, an increase of 7.12%; the service sector will reach VND 18,119.72 billion, an increase of 8.34%; product tax minus product subsidy will reach VND 2,055.65 billion, an increase of 2.98%. In terms of economic growth rate, Binh Phuoc ranks first in the Southeast region and 11th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

Acting Director of the Provincial Statistics Office Truong Quang Phuc announced some basic issues on the socio-economic situation in Binh Phuoc province in 2023.

The service sector created a strong momentum, contributing 2.75 points to the province's GRDP growth. Some market service sectors increased sharply, contributing a lot to the total value added rate such as: accommodation and catering activities; transportation and warehousing activities; arts, entertainment and recreation activities; administrative activities and support services...

Industrial production estimated to increase by 10.36%

The province's industrial production continues to grow compared to 2022, playing the role of the main driving force in the industrial and construction sector, contributing to the growth of the province's GRDP. The industrial production index is estimated to increase by 10.36%, of which the mining industry increased by 11.35%; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 10.69%; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 3.77%; the water supply and waste and wastewater treatment industry increased by 4.76%.

Binh Phuoc's agricultural sector has achieved and exceeded a number of planned targets assigned in 2023, achieving high growth rates, contributing to the overall growth of the province. Forestry production in the area is generally stable. Forest planting, protection and forest fire prevention are of interest to all levels and sectors. However, the aquaculture sector of Binh Phuoc province tends to decrease in area due to rapid urbanization.

Attracted foreign investment resources of 739.23 million USD

Binh Phuoc province has drastically implemented many measures to promote the disbursement of the 2023 public investment plan and attract non-state capital sources for development investment. In 2023, the total social investment capital implemented at current prices is estimated at VND 33,288.93 billion, up 10.95% over the same period last year and accounting for 33.89% of GRDP.

Some key projects being implemented from public investment capital contribute to creating a new look for the province such as: The road west of National Highway 13, Chon Thanh - Hoa Lu section; upgrading and expanding National Highway 13 from Loc Tan intersection to Hoa Lu International Border Gate; supporting the development of border areas - Binh Phuoc Province Sub-project; upgrading and expanding the road from Viet Kieu Industrial Park connecting with Minh Hung - Sikico Industrial Park in Hon Quan district; building a multi-purpose gymnasium in Binh Phuoc province...

During the year, Binh Phuoc has created a great attraction in investment attraction activities. Especially FDI capital in the fields of agricultural product processing for export, electricity, electronics; mechanical engineering and supporting industry; renewable energy... In 2023, the whole province attracted 48 foreign direct investment projects with registered capital of 739.23 million USD, attracting 13 domestic investment projects with a total newly granted capital of 2,847 billion VND.

GRDP per capita increased by 9.53%

An important indicator to evaluate economic efficiency is GRDP per capita. The province's GRDP per capita in 2023 reached 93.94 million VND, an increase of 9.53% compared to 2022. This reflects the efficiency as well as the increasingly improved production level and clear development.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at VND 77,806.90 billion, up 18.27% over the same period last year.

Revenue from transportation, warehousing and transportation support services is estimated at VND2,722.28 billion, up 55.06% over the same period last year. Of which, passenger transport reached VND11,550.55 billion, up 93.47%; freight transport reached VND1,074.09 billion, up 21.46%. Number of passengers transported reached 6,712.79 thousand, up 90.55% over the same period last year. Number of passenger turnover reached 1,430.98 million, up 91.30%.
