On December 15, leading global cybersecurity company Bitdefender launched Scamio, a free online scam detection application, developed to protect users from online scams via embedded links, emails, messaging apps, etc. thanks to an AI-powered chatbot.
Bitdefender Scamio is a personalized scam detection AI chatbot that can make recommendations about potential scam risks through analysis of emails, embedded links, text messages, images, and even QR codes.
Users can access the Scamio app via web browser or Messenger after setting up a Bitdefender account. |
This move by Bitdefender is aimed at protecting users from increasingly complex online fraud. According to a report by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), user losses due to online fraud in 2022 will reach 8.8 billion USD, an increase of 30% compared to 2021.
Cybersecurity experts rate the Bitdefender Scamio application as simple to use, supporting all devices and operating systems, and being accessed via a web browser or via Messenger quickly after setting up a Bitdefender account.
Users simply drag and drop content into Bitdefender Scamio and describe how they received it. Within seconds, the app will provide recommendations along with suggestions for next actions such as deleting or blocking the contact, along with other preventative measures to protect users from similar scams in the future.
This AI application incorporates advanced natural language processing (NLP) to accurately understand and interpret user conversations. Scamio is completely free and does not require users to download or access a Bitdefender product beforehand.
