WHO Director General highly appreciates Vietnam's efforts in the right direction in responding to the epidemic

Pleased to meet again with Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Prime Minister highly appreciated and thanked the WHO for its effective efforts and contributions in supporting Vietnam to be one of the few countries that have successfully fought the Covid-19 pandemic and recovered quickly after the pandemic, and affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing cooperation with WHO to ensure public health.

The Prime Minister shared that Vietnam is focusing on building a grassroots healthcare system, paying more attention to helping people prevent diseases.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam has always closely monitored and regularly consulted the recommendations of WHO and other international organizations on the recent epidemic situation in the world . In that spirit, the Prime Minister requested WHO to continue to promote its role, take the lead in researching the disease and epidemic situation, provide timely assessments and warnings, and further promote international cooperation in the fields of health and disease prevention.

The Head of Government proposed that WHO send experts to help advise Vietnam on perfecting its policies and institutions, developing the grassroots health system, improving the environment and people's lives, and creating further changes for sustainable public health development.

The WHO Director-General agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals, highly appreciated Vietnam's policies and efforts in the right direction in responding to the epidemic, developing grassroots healthcare, and providing universal healthcare, and affirmed his readiness to support and advise Vietnam as requested by the Prime Minister.

The two sides agreed to strengthen coordination between Vietnam and WHO in the joint efforts of the international community for human safety and health, and effective prevention of epidemics.
