Ministry of National Defense meets with delegation of people with revolutionary contributions from Bac Lieu province

( Bqp.vn ) - On the morning of October 9, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting with the delegation of people with revolutionary contributions in Bac Lieu province. Authorized by the Head of the Ministry of National Defense, Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Colonel Ngo Thi Le, Deputy Director of the Policy Department (General Department of Politics) chaired the meeting.

Bac Lieu is a province in the Southwest region, in the Mekong Delta region, with an important strategic position in terms of economy - society and national defense - security; it is a convergence of many cultural streams, creating the character as well as the unique features of the hospitable, generous and open-minded Bac Lieu people. During the resistance wars for national liberation and the war to defend the Fatherland, under the leadership of the Party, the armed forces and people of Bac Lieu province have always been united, promoting the tradition of patriotism, together with the army and people of the whole country, united, joined hands, and contributed greatly to the cause of national liberation and national reunification.

Promoting the revolutionary tradition, over the years, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Bac Lieu province have always overcome difficulties, been dynamic, creative, proactive, determined, and strived, and have achieved many important and comprehensive achievements in all fields; in which, the province has regularly paid careful attention to the implementation of regimes and policies for people with revolutionary contributions and social security policies.

At the meeting, Colonel Ngo Thi Le visited and presented gifts from the Ministry of National Defense to delegates who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution in Bac Lieu province; and informed about some highlights in the policy work in the Army and the Army's rear, and the gratitude and repayment activities of the entire army in recent times. Accordingly, in recent years, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have led and directed agencies and units to actively and proactively coordinate closely with the Central Committees, Ministries, branches and localities to research and propose to the Party and State to promulgate and promptly supplement many documents regulating the regime and policies for families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution; policies for the Army's family rear; proactively propose and coordinate to effectively resolve policy backlogs after the wars.

From 2013 to present, the whole country has searched for and collected over 21 thousand martyrs' remains; of which over 10 thousand martyrs' remains were collected domestically, and nearly 11 thousand martyrs' remains were collected overseas. In the past 10 years, the entire army has mobilized cadres, soldiers and mobilized sources to contribute to the "Repaying gratitude" Fund with over 550 billion VND; built over 8 thousand gratitude houses, with an amount of nearly 600 billion VND; supported 2,879 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; sponsored 702 children of martyrs and seriously wounded soldiers; donated nearly 6,000 savings books, worth over 13 billion VND to policy beneficiaries; visited and presented gifts to tens of thousands of policy beneficiaries; supported medical facilities and equipment for nursing centers for wounded soldiers and meritorious people with an amount of over 100 billion VND.

Along with that, the Party committees and commanders of agencies and units in the entire army regularly pay attention to and effectively implement support policies for relatives of martyrs working in the Army, families of soldiers, workers, and defense officials in difficult and extremely difficult circumstances; innovate and effectively implement vocational training policies and job referrals for demobilized soldiers; prioritize support for cadres working in remote, isolated, and extremely difficult areas; effectively implement regimes and policies for forces performing sudden missions and missions in difficult, isolated, and remote areas.
