The Minister of Education and Training worked at Tay Bac University.

Tay Bac University was established in 2001 under Decision No. 39/2001/QD-TTg dated March 23, 2001 of the Prime Minister. Its predecessors were Thai Meo Autonomous Region Secondary Pedagogical School, Tay Bac 10+3 Secondary Pedagogical School, Tay Bac Pedagogical College. The school is currently a multidisciplinary human resource training institution, including the fields of Pedagogy, agriculture, forestry, economics , tourism, health sciences; at the same time, it is a center for scientific research, technology transfer and training of international students from 9 provinces of Northern Laos.

Over the years, Tay Bac University has promoted the spirit of autonomy, solidarity, efforts to overcome difficulties and achieved many outstanding results: maintaining 25 training majors with a scale of nearly 6,000 students/year; over 90% of graduates have jobs; developing a complete system of pedagogical majors from preschool to high school, with an affiliated practice high school serving pedagogical training and internship. The school has completed the quality assessment of educational institutions (period 2016-2020) and implemented self-assessment of 24 training programs, external assessment of 6 programs; promoting scientific research and international cooperation. In particular, Tay Bac University has been included in the list of 14 key institutions for teacher training according to Decision No. 452/QD-TTg dated February 27, 2025 of the Prime Minister on approving the Planning of the network of higher education and pedagogical institutions for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

At the meeting, the school proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training consider a special mechanism to attract and reward teachers and scientists; continue to develop Tay Bac University in a multi-disciplinary and multi-field direction; build advanced, modern, high-quality training programs; exempt or reduce tuition fees for ethnic minority students in agriculture and forestry; support the development of science and technology, innovation; pay attention to creating conditions for the school to access investment capital to complete facilities...

Representatives of the Departments and Divisions of the Ministry of Education and Training gave suggestions for the school to continue to improve its staff and lecturers; expand the enrollment area and training scale for Lao students.

The leaders of Tay Bac University welcomed Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son to work at the school.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Nguyen Kim Son affirmed that Tay Bac University plays an important role in training human resources for the Northwest region. The Minister requested the school to continue promoting its achievements, build a suitable development plan, create its own strengths; expand the scale of training, especially in the fields of pedagogy, agriculture - forestry, information technology, Lao - Thai language teacher training; strengthen cooperation with domestic universities; at the same time, focus on strengthening the staff and lecturers, improving the quality of training, providing quality human resources to meet the requirements of the labor market.
