Education Minister: There will be a major restructuring of universities

(QNgTV)- About 140 public universities are facing a major restructuring and merger, with a 'very deep' reduction in the number of institutions.

According to Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, this is an opportunity, a chance, an important breakthrough point. If we do not promptly grasp and promote the advantages, we will miss the beat. The arrangement, according to the Minister, aims to overcome the fragmented, small-scale situation that cannot develop.

The Ministry of Education is also calculating the restructuring plan, reducing the number of units to make the schools stronger and better. There are schools that are not big but in terms of geopolitics , the necessary position will be retained, at the same time forced to develop as quickly as possible.

The Ministry of Education and Training will have scenarios for each school with the best options, including personnel assignments. It is expected that by 2030, Vietnam will have additional Hue and Da Nang National Universities, 5 technical and technological schools with key investment, and 14 "key" teacher training schools. The number of Pedagogical schools is expected to be 48-50, a decrease of 15-17 compared to the present.
