In his resignation letter, Mr. Reznikov gave an overview of his 22 months in office, praising Ukraine’s fierce resistance to the conflict with Russia and the efforts of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry under his tenure to seek military aid from the West.
Mr Reznikov is said to be in line to become Ukraine's next ambassador to the UK after stepping down. He said one of Kiev's main priorities was to build lasting partnerships with key allies and "ensure real security".
Ukraine’s defense ministry under Mr. Reznikov has faced wartime scandals over food and clothing procurement, as well as other corruption allegations. Mr. Reznikov has denied any wrongdoing.
He said in his resignation letter that defence procurement processes had been reformed during his tenure and that he had completed all the tasks set for him since his appointment 22 months ago.
