Four Vietnamese players are in the ASEAN All-Stars squad for a friendly match against Manchester United.

The players called up for the match against Manchester United Club include: Defender Do Duy Manh, midfielder Nguyen Hai Long (Hanoi Club), midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc (Phu Dong Ninh Binh) and defender Nguyen Van Vi (Nam Dinh Blue Steel).

Previously, according to the initial announcement, the Southeast Asian Football Federation selected 3 players of the Vietnamese team, Duy Manh, Hoang Duc and Quang Hai, for the ASEAN All-Stars squad. However, due to the tight schedule at the club level, especially the Final of the Southeast Asian Club Championship - Shopee Cup 2024/2025, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai (Hanoi Police Club) asked to withdraw from the list to focus on important goals with his home team.

As a replacement, Mr. Kim Sang Sik - Head Coach of the Vietnam National Team and also Head Coach of the ASEAN All-Stars Team proposed to call up midfielder Nguyen Hai Long, who is in impressive form and scored the decisive goal in the second leg of the Final between the Vietnam National Team and the Thailand National Team at the ASEAN Cup 2024. In addition, defender Nguyen Van Vi was also called up thanks to his excellent performances for the national team, especially in the final qualifying round of the Asian Cup 2027.

The match between the ASEAN All-Stars and Manchester United is part of the Maybank Challenge Cup, which raises funds for the YASA charity in Malaysia. The event not only gives Southeast Asian players a chance to showcase their talents against one of the world’s top clubs, but also helps spread humanitarian values ​​through football.

The ASEAN All-Stars squad will comprise top players selected from all 12 member associations of the ASEAN Football Federation.
