"Coming to Vietnam is a miracle!", Liz Mitchell of the band Boney M shared with the press in Da Lat before the "Dalat Spring Concert" on the evening of December 21.
On the afternoon of December 20 in Da Lat, artists Boney M.Liz Mitchell, Joy Band and Samantha Fox met with the media before the Dalat Spring Concert - the first annual international music project in Da Lat following international format standards taking place tomorrow evening at Lam Vien Square.
This will be the beginning of a series of international-class concerts held annually in Da Lat, worthy of the title of Creative City in the field of music recognized by UNESCO.
Boney M. Liz Mitchell, Joy, Samantha Fox are world music legends of the 1970s and 1980s and except for Samantha Fox, all of them have performed in Vietnam. However, this is the first time the artists have come to Dalat to participate in the Dalat Spring Concert - a music event held for the first time but has reached international standards and is held annually.
Sharing with the media, Boney M's Liz Mitchell said: "To come to Vietnam is a miracle! Everything happened quite quickly. I have been touring in Canada for 8 consecutive years and I wanted to take a break this year. But my husband got a phone call and said We need to come to Vietnam to perform and now we are here today".
There was a member of the Boney M band who almost couldn't come to Vietnam because of some visa issues. But by a miracle and a prayer to God, everything was resolved and we were all present in Vietnam. That member even arrived in Vietnam before Liz's husband. Liz feels very happy that the audience has accepted Boney M's music. "Every time I come to Vietnam, it's a different feeling, but what we feel most clearly is the love from music fans," the singer shared.
During the press conference, Samantha Fox spontaneously covered Boney M's Rivers of Babylon and revealed that Samantha Fox has idolized Boney M since she was 12 years old. Samantha Fox said: "I have performed in Asia many times but this is the first time I have come to Vietnam. And as soon as I received the invitation, I had to exclaim: Oh my gosh! That is what I have always been looking forward to. I agreed immediately."
If in previous shows in Vietnam, the artists performed on indoor stages, this time, the stage space opens outdoors amidst the vast nature of Da Lat at Lam Vien Square so that the audience can easily interact with the artists at close range in a large space.
Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong - Chairman of IB Group Vietnam and Production Director of Dalat Spring Concert shared at the project announcement event: "We have to prepare 3 independent equipment systems that meet the band's requirements. For this event, we have to prepare 6 mixers to operate the entire sound system to create the most realistic sound quality".
Mr. Duong also revealed that the Organizing Committee recently found a keyboard that was produced more than 20 years ago after a month of searching because only it can create the true Disco music that is familiar to millions of Boney M fans. And like the previous times inviting international music legends to Vietnam, IB Group Vietnam must meet all the artists' requirements regarding music, performance stage, sound, musical instruments as well as international standard accommodation conditions, ensuring the best conditions for the artists before the show.
Dalat Spring Concert will be divided into 3 parts, corresponding to the performances of Boney M. Liz Mitchell, Joy and Samantha Fox. Notably, although Boney M and Liz Mitchell have performed in Vietnam twice, this time will bring a different experience when the legendary voice sings classic Christmas songs in the poetic space of Dalat.
Band member Joy shared at the press conference: "Vietnam and Da Lat are very safe. We are not familiar with the traffic in Vietnam but we still love Vietnamese cuisine , culture and people. Vietnamese people are always friendly and love us."
When asked about the songs they will perform, Joy replied: "Of course tomorrow there will be all our HITs, especially tomorrow we have a new song dedicated to the Vietnamese audience called Vietnamese Girl".
Dalat Spring Concert is expected to become an annual destination for world music legends in Vietnam. After the opening artists Boney M. Liz Mitchell, Joy and Samantha Fox, the Dalat Spring Concert organizers revealed that extremely famous legendary singers in Vietnam such as Richard Maxx or Bryan Adams may perform at Dalat Spring Concert in the following years.
The rare difference at Dalat Spring Concert is that the organizers invite famous artists to perform but it is completely free while owning tickets to see them perform at any event is very difficult and expensive. It is expected that 15,000 audiences will be able to join in the most famous Disco songs of artists that have been known by heart by many generations of audiences.
