Taking sea and island tourism as the main focus

It can be affirmed that the main tourism potential of Binh Dinh is still the sea and islands. Therefore, Binh Dinh province has implemented a series of programs to exploit the maximum potential of beaches, bathing areas and related resources to serve tourism. Mr. Tran Van Thanh, Director of Binh Dinh Department of Tourism said: Determining the development of tourism from the sea and islands as the key product in the period of 2021-2025, the province has issued many resolutions and action programs to call for investors to Binh Dinh sea to develop into high-quality tourism products.

According to Mr. Thanh, in parallel with investing resources to develop events and tourism chains at sea, the province also regularly organizes seminars and conferences with provinces and cities in the country to connect, share experiences and exploit inter-provincial tourism routes in chains.

For example, in 2023 and the first half of 2024, Binh Dinh has cooperated with Quang Nam, Phu Yen , Nha Trang, Da Nang, Ha Giang... to seek investment opportunities to develop tourism in the province. In addition, the locality also regularly organizes regional and international events to stimulate tourism in the coastal area in particular and tourism in the province in general.

In 2023, Binh Dinh will organize a series of events "Quy Nhon - Sea Paradise - Brilliant Colors" with a series of special events in the square area near the beach. In particular, performances such as hot air balloon festival, light festival, beach kite festival... have attracted a large number of tourists to experience.

Following that success, in the first 6 months of 2024, Binh Dinh continued to "launch" a series of grand tourism stimulus events, with the highlights being the Aquabike Jet Ski World Championship and the F1H2O Powerboat World Championship; a series of tourism events in the Summer of 2024, including the TeqBall International Tournament.

In particular, the 2024 Binh Dinh Land and Sea Quintessence Festival is one of the outstanding events, including a series of events: Seafood Food Festival, OCOP Fair, Craft Villages, Street Festival and Light Festival with a special fireworks display.

Not only Quy Nhon beach area, Binh Dinh province is also currently having strategies to develop sea tourism in neighboring areas. For example, in Nhon Ly fishing village area, the province has also planned and invested to form a community tourism village; or Nhon Hai - Nhon Chau sea area with rare coral reefs, the locality has been investing to form coral diving tours, combined with experiential eco-tourism. Particularly for the tourism potential in Phuong Mai peninsula area, the locality has recently organized a sand motorbike racing event that attracted thousands of participants.

Turning ethnic minority "specialties" into typical tourism products

Binh Dinh province currently has 39 ethnic minorities, accounting for 2.5% of the province's population, concentrated in Van Canh, Vinh Thanh, Hoai An, and An Lao districts. With cultural diversity, unique craft villages, and rich festivals, the mountainous areas of Binh Dinh have their own strengths in contributing to the development of local tourism.

For example, Vinh Son commune (Vinh Thanh district) is considered a leading "precious gem" for tourism exploitation. This place is located at an altitude of about 1,000m above sea level, has a cool climate, beautiful natural landscapes, with majestic forests, rivers, streams, and pristine waterfalls, containing many cultural and historical values such as Ta Kon stone citadel, Hang Doi waterfall, Nguyen Hue orange garden - the base of the Tay Son insurgents...

The Ba Na people in Vinh Thanh district have preserved many unique traditional cultural features such as: New Rice Festival, games, folk dances, prayers, legends, stilt house architecture, weaving, brocade weaving, lullabies, unique ethnic musical instruments such as gongs, T'rung...

Meanwhile, the people of Van Canh district still preserve many unique craft villages, including the Ha Van Tren brocade weaving village. In addition, there are gong festivals, double drum dances, dances... which are also one of the "specialties" in the highlands to serve tourism exploitation.

In addition to restoring festivals, the locality is also considering improving traditional craft villages, promoting products to increase people's income, and connecting to develop tourism.

Ms. Huynh Thi Anh Thao, Deputy Director of Binh Dinh Department of Culture and Sports said: In order to promote the implementation of Project 6 on "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development", the Department is currently researching and developing projects to develop community tourism, aiming to exploit existing tourism resources of mountainous districts such as An Lao, Vinh Thanh, Van Canh.

In addition, the Department also regularly organizes training classes to teach traditional musical instruments to the young generation, and recreates unique traditional rituals of ethnic communities in the highlands of the province, aiming to exploit and develop tourism.

“In recent years, the Department has also coordinated with midland and mountainous districts to find ways to awaken these available potentials. The Department has coordinated with localities to promote the typical traditional festivals of the Ba Na people to exploit and develop them into products serving tourism development; support investment in building typical tourist destinations, fostering tourism expertise and skills associated with exploiting traditional cultural values at typical tourist destinations in ethnic minority and mountainous areas,” Mr. Tran Van Thanh, Director of Binh Dinh Department of Tourism shared more.
