The entire Dak Lak province has recorded more than 700 cases of measles, the rate of adults infected with the disease is increasing. Many cases have dangerous complications such as pneumonia, respiratory failure, conjunctivitis or digestive disorders.
According to statistics from the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control, from the beginning of 2024 to present, the whole province has recorded 764 measles cases.
Buon Ma Thuot City is the locality with the most cases, with 366 cases. Notably, the number of people with measles is increasing significantly in adults (aged 20-40) with a high proportion.
At the Department of Infectious Diseases, Central Highlands General Hospital, since the beginning of 2024, nearly 90 adult measles cases have been admitted. Many cases have developed dangerous complications such as pneumonia, respiratory failure, conjunctivitis or digestive disorders.

Specialist Doctor II H'Nuen Hđơk, Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Central Highlands General Hospital, said that many cases of measles in adults are caused by the virus spreading through the respiratory tract. People who have never had measles, have not been vaccinated, or have been vaccinated but have weakened immunity are all at high risk of contracting the disease.
Measles is a dangerous and contagious infectious disease, but it can be effectively prevented through vaccination. Therefore, people need to take good preventive measures, especially getting vaccinated fully and on schedule.
Faced with the complicated developments of measles, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has issued an official dispatch requesting departments, branches, sectors, and People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities to continue to strengthen epidemic prevention and control work.
The health sector closely monitors the disease's developments and closely monitors outbreaks to thoroughly handle and prevent spread.
In particular, measles vaccination for high-risk groups is emphasized as a core measure to protect the community and reduce the risk of outbreaks.
