This third phase of the nationwide health check-up in Ca Mau was organized on a large scale with five direct outreach points in the communes of U Minh, Dam Doi, Dat Mui, Song Doc, and Bac Lieu ward, with the participation and guidance of leaders from the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee of Ca Mau.
This campaign saw the participation of a large professional force, with close cooperation between public and private medical facilities in the area. In particular, the Ca Mau health sector mobilized the support of lecturers and students from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ca Mau College of Health, and Bac Lieu College of Health to assist and serve the people.

In Dam Doi commune, the program also includes free eye surgery for residents. Through screening in the first and second phases, authorities discovered many cases of people suffering from eye diseases but facing difficult circumstances and lacking the means to receive treatment.

Based on initial screening and detection, the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Health mobilized Le Van Thinh Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) to send a team of experienced experts and doctors to support and perform free eye surgery right in the area for nearly 150 people in Dam Doi commune.

Directly supervising and inspecting the eye surgery work at Dam Doi Hospital, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Nguyen Minh Luan said that this campaign, in addition to promoting communication and raising awareness so that people proactively go for regular health check-ups, contributing to improving the quality of life, the Ca Mau health sector also coordinated with many reputable hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to perform free eye surgeries for the people.

"This is a very concrete and practical initial result of screening, early detection, and timely treatment of diseases for the people," Comrade Nguyen Minh Luan emphasized.
Arriving at the screening site early, Mr. Chau Van Tao (76 years old, residing in Dam Doi commune) emotionally shared: “My family is small, my wife and I are elderly and don't have the means to travel far for medical checkups. Now that I heard there was a free screening team coming to our area, I immediately rushed out by motorboat to register for the screening. For elderly people like us who have difficulty traveling, this is a meaningful and practical initiative.”

According to a report from the Ca Mau health sector, since the first phase, the total number of people who have received health check-ups and screenings throughout the province has reached over 312,000, equivalent to more than 14.5% of the province's population. Ca Mau aims to achieve a health screening rate of approximately 50% of the province's population by the end of June 2026.
Through screening examinations, healthcare workers have been able to provide timely advice and appropriate treatment for thousands of cases with underlying medical conditions or chronic diseases.
Besides examination and treatment activities, during this campaign, the Ca Mau Provincial Health Department continues to focus on updating electronic health records for each citizen, promoting the digital transformation process in the health sector in accordance with the Government's policy. At the same time, based on practical experience, the Ca Mau health sector will compile and propose to competent authorities to increase investment in infrastructure, advanced equipment, and supplement high-quality human resources for the grassroots health system…
