According to White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt, there has been some progress on the Iranian side and everyone is ready to fly to Pakistan if necessary.
At the same time, the IRNA news agency reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had begun a trip to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia. The purpose of the visit was to hold bilateral consultations and exchange views on the latest developments related to the Gulf conflict.
According to CNN, Foreign Minister Araghchi is in Pakistan to meet with mediators, but the Iranian Foreign Ministry denies having a direct meeting with the US. This move shows that the two sides continue to send conflicting messages.
Earlier, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth warned that if Iran continued to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz, it would be considered a violation of the fragile ceasefire agreement with the US. Speaking at a press conference, Hegseth emphasized that if Iran deployed more mines, the US would take retaliatory measures. Hegseth also did not deny reports that the US Department of War estimated it could take up to six months to clear all the mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
