Highland communes are urgently working to stabilize the lives of their people.

Due to the influence of typhoons No. 10 and 11, many mountainous areas in the northern part of Thai Nguyen province, such as Ba Be, Cho Ra, Vinh Thong, Tan Ky, Na Ri, and Con Minh, suffered heavy damage. Local authorities are focusing on khắc phục hậu quả (remedying the consequences), mobilizing many forces to support people in cleaning up and restoring production.

In Tan Ky commune, after being cut off for many days, inter-commune and inter-village roads are now largely open. Authorities remain on duty, guiding vehicles through sections of road that still pose a risk of landslides.

Not only transportation, but people's lives are also gradually stabilizing. Schools that were once submerged in floodwaters are now filled with the joyful laughter of children. Desks and chairs have been cleaned, and the blackboards are being rewritten with the first words after the storm. The joy of returning to school is evident on the faces of the students and in the relieved eyes of the teachers.

Mr. Tran Quang Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Tan Ky Commune People's Committee, said: "Immediately after the flood subsided, the commune mobilized forces to urgently support the people, focusing on repairing large areas of mud and debris on roads to ensure safe travel for residents; assisting in relocating households from areas at risk of landslides, and clearing mud and debris from homes and schools. To date, the lives of the people have basically stabilized, and the flooded schools have welcomed students back to class..."

These days, life in Cho Moi commune is gradually returning to normal. Mr. Tran Manh Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cho Moi commune, said: "Given the complex developments of the storm and floods, the People's Committee of the commune directed and mobilized the police, military , and 'four on-the-spot' forces to rescue and support people in isolated areas, especially villages bordering the Cau and Chu rivers, to relocate property and people to safe places."

In agricultural production, local authorities have proactively disseminated information and guided people to focus on overcoming damage in a way that suits the actual situation. For areas of rice, corn, and other crops that were flooded but still have the potential to recover, the communes mobilized militia forces, mass organizations, and local people to help households re-erect fallen plants, add fertilizer, and drain water quickly so that the plants can quickly take root and turn green again. Areas that suffered severe damage and could not be replanted in time for the next season were surveyed to propose support for crop seeds and livestock for the next season.

Simultaneously, local authorities, in coordination with the agricultural sector, are inspecting and providing technical guidance on crop care after flooding, spraying disinfectants, and treating the environment to limit disease outbreaks.

Some small-scale livestock farming models affected by landslides are being restored; many households are proactively reinforcing barns, cleaning livestock areas, and protecting their herds of livestock and poultry.

Mr. Ma Quoc Viet, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Lang commune, said: The commune has mobilized businesses to support the opening of roads for the people. In the long term, the commune has a plan to review all households at high risk of landslides, mobilize support for people to relocate from dangerous areas; and at the same time propose timely support for households that have suffered heavy losses. The commune is also considering suitable land to allocate, helping people to have safe housing as soon as possible.

In addition, restoring electricity, water supply, and communication services has been a top priority for the communes. The power sector has promptly addressed the problems, replacing broken and fallen power poles and lines; to date, most residential areas have had electricity restored, ensuring daily life and production.

The water supply system in the centers of the communes has been largely restored. At schools, the cleanup of mud and debris, and the cleaning of schoolyards and classrooms were carried out immediately after the water receded.

In addition, local authorities have paid special attention to environmental sanitation efforts following the floods. Officials, youth union members, and residents actively collected garbage, cleared waterways, and cleaned village roads and alleys. In the communes, the militia and self-defense forces coordinated with residents to help households affected by landslides move their belongings, rebuild houses, and stabilize their living conditions.

Thanks to the close guidance of the government and the spirit of solidarity and mutual support among the people, the lives of the people in the northern mountainous areas of the province have now basically stabilized.
