Cam My is building a new, ecological, and modern rural area.

Cam My commune was established by merging four commune-level administrative units: Long Giao town, Nhan Nghia commune, Bao Binh commune, and Xuan My commune. These are all localities that have achieved impressive results in building new rural areas. In the 2025-2030 period, Cam My commune will continue to invest in improving rural infrastructure, aiming to build a commune that meets advanced new rural area standards in an ecological and modern direction.

One of Cam My commune's strengths is its development of organic agricultural production, forming concentrated specialized production areas and large-scale fields. In the coming time, the locality will continue to promote the restructuring of the agricultural sector, focusing on developing agriculture towards commercial production, building large-scale, safe fields associated with a circular agricultural economy .

Strongly develop rural infrastructure.

In the context of building new rural areas, Cam My commune is among the top localities in the province in terms of investment in rural infrastructure. In particular, the former Long Giao town has achieved the standard of a civilized urban area.

According to the Political Report of the Party Committee of Cam My Commune presented to the First Party Congress of the commune, term 2025-2030, during the period 2020-2025, the locality mobilized a total investment capital of over 2,560 billion VND for basic construction; and implemented, completed, and put into use projects such as: cultural institutions, schools, rural transportation social projects, electricity systems for daily life and production, and water supply...

In particular, the locality has done well in mobilizing all social resources to improve the rural landscape and environment, such as planting trees and maintaining environmental hygiene; mobilizing resources to combat crime; installing streetlights and cameras to ensure security and order on roads, and strengthening model residential areas...

A highlight of the locality's efforts in building new rural areas, especially model residential areas, is the implementation of numerous environmental protection solutions in both daily life and production. Specifically, in daily life, the locality encourages smart consumption, limiting the use of nylon bags and single-use plastic products, using organic cleaning products instead of conventional ones, and sorting waste at source. As a result, model residential areas and model roads that are bright, green, clean, and beautiful are constantly being replicated.

As a result, the rural landscape in the commune has become increasingly modern and attractive. The total value of production has grown at an average annual rate of over 13%. Specifically, the value of agricultural production increased by an average of 5.14%, industry and construction by nearly 12.75%, and trade and services by nearly 17.2%. The average per capita income in the commune reached 97 million VND per year.

Developing safe, commercial agriculture.

During the 2020-2025 term, one of the key breakthrough tasks the locality will focus on is developing clean, organic agricultural production; applying science and technology to production; improving infrastructure; and promoting socio-economic development.

As a result, to date, the commune has established 6 concentrated production areas; 9 production and consumption linkage chains associated with export-oriented durian growing area codes and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products; 6 growing area codes linked to product traceability serving domestic and export markets; and 3 organic production models covering nearly 64 hectares. Notably, the entire commune has over 128 hectares of crops certified under VietGAP; and nearly 1,400 hectares of crops applying water-saving irrigation systems…

Mr. Do Luong Y, Head of the Nhan Nghia Durian Cooperative, is a representative of outstanding farmers and businesspeople from the commune who had the honor of attending the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, term 2023-2028. He is a pioneering farmer in growing durian, a high-value specialty crop. Notably, he has collaborated with many local farmers to transition to VietGAP-certified production processes and obtain a code for durian growing areas for export.

According to Mr. Ý, in order to be granted a code for durian growing areas for official export to the Chinese market, farmers must adhere to very strict production processes and make many changes to their farming practices to produce safe products. The benefits for farmers participating in the supply chain include access to high-quality inputs at good prices; support in transferring farming techniques; and, most importantly, guaranteed product sales for sustainable development.

Over the past period, collective economic models in the commune have been continuously expanded and strengthened. Currently, the commune has 9 cooperatives and 30 cooperative groups, many of which are operating increasingly effectively, especially those involved in the production and business of pepper, durian, and goat farming.

A prime example is the Quyet Tien Agricultural, Commercial, and Service Cooperative, which has effectively implemented the Large-Scale Green Pomelo Farming Project. The cooperative's green pomelo products have received OCOP certification, establishing a supply chain from production to consumption, with members' products guaranteed by a buyer at a good and stable price.

To develop sustainable agricultural production, Cam My commune continues to encourage and promote the development of the collective economy; focusing on consolidating and improving the quality and efficiency of existing cooperatives and cooperative groups; and at the same time developing new cooperatives and cooperative groups.

According to Mr. Doan Van Liem, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam My commune, the main source of income for the people in the commune is still primarily from agricultural production. Therefore, in the coming period, the locality will continue to focus on attracting private sector investment in building infrastructure to serve agricultural production, especially in specialized production areas. The locality will continue to promote the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards efficiency, sustainability, improving quality, added value, and competitiveness. It will also promote the development of clean agriculture in an organic direction, applying high technology to commodity production, linked with the development of agricultural product processing industries and product consumption markets.
