Dual telephoto camera on Huawei Pura 80 causes controversy: Breakthrough or gimmick?
The dual-focus telephoto camera cluster on the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra is causing controversy in the tech world: Is this a real step forward or just an eye-catching marketing trick?

The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra attracts attention by integrating two optical zoom levels of 3.7x and 9.4x into a single telephoto camera. This mechanism uses a moving prism to change the direction of light, providing two focal lengths of 83mm and 212mm on the same 50MP sensor.
The solution helps save space, keeps the design slim but still ensures impressive zoom capabilities. However, the system only allows two fixed zoom levels instead of the smooth continuous zoom like the Xperia 1 VI, causing controversy in terms of flexibility.
Another limitation is that at 9.4x zoom, the image is only 12.5MP, which can cause the quality of details to be reduced at large zoom levels. Many experts appreciate Huawei's choice of two "golden" focal lengths instead of stuffing in many ineffective zoom levels.
While not a revolutionary breakthrough, Huawei's dual telephoto camera is a practical and encouraging direction for the smartphone industry. While not a revolutionary breakthrough, Huawei's dual telephoto camera is a practical and encouraging direction for the smartphone industry.
