An Giang prosecuted and temporarily detained a subject for organizing illegal exit for others.

On October 10, the An Giang Provincial Police Security Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and execute an arrest warrant to detain Giang Chi Hung (born in 1982, residing in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province) for organizing illegal exit for others.

The investigator served the decision to prosecute Giang Chi Hung.

Through investigation, on April 10, 2025, Hung completed procedures at Kinh Hoi Border Control Station (Khanh Hoi, Ca Mau ) for fishing boat CM-02934-TS to go fishing in Vietnamese waters.

On the afternoon of June 7, 2025, Hung informed the crew to go to the waters of Malaysia and Thailand to fish and share the profits, and the crew all agreed.

At about 8:00 p.m. on June 7, 2025, Hung moved fishing boat CM-02934-TS from Vietnam's exclusive economic zone to Thailand's waters. At this location, Hung directed the crew to anchor to fish for peanuts. Due to big waves, Hung steered boat CM-02934-TS back to Vietnam's waters.

At 3:00 a.m. on June 9, 2025, when fishing boat CM-02934-TS arrived in Vietnam's waters, it was temporarily detained by the Inspection and Control Team. At the investigation agency, Hung admitted to violating the law. The case is currently under further investigation and clarification.

Implementing the direction on prevention and combat of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, the Investigation Security Department of An Giang Provincial Police has collected documents and evidence to propose strict handling of violators.

Thereby, it is recommended that fishermen raise awareness, understand clearly, voluntarily and strictly comply with legal regulations during the exploitation and fishing process, especially well implementing the recommendations of the European Commission (EC) to join hands to protect sovereignty, develop the economy, and contribute to removing the EC's yellow card for our country's fisheries industry.
