According to the New York Post, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee Jørgen Watne Frydnes on October 10 spoke out about the decision to award the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Maria Corina Machado, a Venezuelan opposition leader, instead of US President Trump.
“In the long history of the Nobel Peace Prize, we have seen many campaigns and media attention. Every year, we receive thousands of letters from people expressing their views, saying what would bring peace to them,” said Nobel Committee Chairman Jørgen Watne Frydnes.

"The committee works in a room with portraits of all the Nobel laureates, which is a place of courage and integrity. And we rely only on the work (of Ms. Machado) and Alfred Nobel's will to make our decision," Mr. Frydnes emphasized.
Previously, according to RT, the White House criticized the Norwegian Nobel Committee after the organization decided to award this year's Nobel Peace Prize to Ms. Machado.
“The Nobel Committee has shown that it puts politics above the value of peace,” White House communications director Steven Cheung wrote on X.
“Donald Trump will continue to make peace, end wars and save lives. He has a heart of humanity and a will that can move mountains,” said White House communications director Steven Cheung.

The White House's comments came shortly after the Nobel Committee announced that this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner was Maria Corina Machado. The Venezuelan opposition leader was honored for her tireless efforts to promote democratic freedoms in Venezuela and her persistent struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition.
