From a young age, Mr. Nghia was educated by his grandparents and parents about the traditional culture of the Dao ethnic group, so these traditional cultural values gradually permeated him. As he grew up, he regularly participated in cultural and artistic activities with the villagers. In 2012, he was elected as the village Party branch secretary. This was an opportunity for him to spread the spirit and responsibility of preserving the traditional cultural values of the Dao ethnic group to the people in the village. Mr. Nghia, together with the village's Front Committee and other organizations, actively promoted and encouraged villagers to participate in the Binh Yen Village Folk Culture Club.
To improve the quality of the club's activities, he regularly encouraged and motivated members to actively practice traditional songs to serve the cultural activities of the village and commune; he also taught folk melodies, dances, and how to weave traditional costumes of the Dao ethnic group to young people...
Mr. Nghia believes that the negative impact of the market economy is causing traditional cultural values to gradually fade away. Therefore, Binh Yen village has undertaken many activities to connect and spread to the villagers the love and pride in the traditional culture of the Dao ethnic group, contributing to building a more united and developed Dao community. Currently, the Dao people in Binh Yen village still preserve many traditional cultural features such as writing, language, coming-of-age ceremonies, and traditional embroidery. In particular, they maintain three festivals a year: Thanh Minh Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival (the 15th day of the 7th lunar month), and the New Year's Festival...
Not only concerned with preserving traditional cultural identity, for nearly 12 years as the village Party branch secretary, Mr. Nghia has always focused on innovating and improving the quality of Party branch activities, requiring Party members to uphold a high sense of responsibility for their assigned tasks. Every year, he and the Party branch committee develop resolutions on economic development suitable to the village's reality; regularly encourage villagers to change the structure of crops and livestock towards commodity production, bringing high economic value; and renovate neglected gardens to plant fruit trees and vegetables to serve daily needs and increase family income. The village has coordinated with businesses to promote and encourage people to participate in overseas labor export programs and short-term vocational training at training facilities inside and outside the province.
Implementing the New Rural Development program in the village faced many difficulties due to its low starting point and the lack of synchronized infrastructure investment. To encourage people's active participation in New Rural Development, he and the village committee, along with influential figures in the family clan, went to each house to spread awareness and mobilize support. Once they understood they were key players in New Rural Development, the people of Binh Yen village voluntarily contributed labor and resources to build roads and renovate their houses. To date, the village's appearance has changed significantly; the average per capita income has reached 52.7 million VND/person/year; the poverty rate has decreased to 1.637%; and over 90% of families have achieved the title of "Culturally Advanced Family".
