The Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart hybrid version has just been launched in Indonesia through the GIIAS 2025 exhibition. This model is the first electrified product of Daihatsu Indonesia. However, according to local reports, the Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid is imported completely from Japan instead of being assembled domestically like the regular gasoline version. Being imported completely from Japan makes this hybrid model not really attractive in price. In the Indonesian market, the new Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid 2025 is listed at 293.9 million Rupiah (about 464 million VND).
In terms of appearance, the Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid has a design almost identical to the regular gasoline version. Daihatsu only adds the e-Smart logo on the side and trunk door for the hybrid version of this A-class SUV. The Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid is equipped with a characteristic grille with a layered scaly pattern. In addition, there are vertical front/rear bumpers and triangular fog lights. The car uses 16-inch alloy wheels, painted in a single color. The car uses fuel-efficient Dunlop Enasave tires and does not have a spare tire. The rear door of the Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid is made of plastic instead of metal. Inside the familiar cockpit, Daihatsu has equipped this hybrid model with a separate air conditioning control panel, a blue start button, an automatic handbrake, and an Auto Hold temporary brake hold. In addition, the car also has a Smart Pedal (S-PDL) function, allowing the car to be operated with one pedal. Smart Pedal will use energy regeneration and engine braking instead of conventional mechanical braking.
The Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid is imported completely from Japan, so it does not have a central touch screen according to domestic standards. Instead, it has a 10-inch infotainment screen assembled in Indonesia, integrated with a rear camera. In addition, this A-class SUV also has a 7-inch digital dashboard, supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity and soundproof glass. The steering wheel spokes are almost bare, with only cruise control buttons and a “Power” button, giving the feeling of a lower version. The Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum capacity of 106 horsepower and a maximum torque of 170 Nm. The engine is combined with a gasoline engine with the code WA-VEX with Atkinson cycle, 3 cylinders, naturally aspirated, 1.2L capacity for a maximum capacity of 82 and a maximum torque of 105 Nm.
The petrol engine will act as a generator to charge the hybrid battery. Meanwhile, the electric motor drives the wheels directly. Thus, the Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid operates similarly to a range-extending electric vehicle. The claimed fuel consumption of this hybrid model is 3.6 liters / 100 km according to the WLTP cycle. Finally, there are safety features such as 6 airbags, 6 front/rear parking sensors, ABS anti-lock braking system, electronic balance and hill start assist. In particular, the car also has a blind spot warning system and 8 ADAS active safety features such as collision warning, lane departure warning, front vehicle departure warning, distraction warning, automatic headlights, etc.
