In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the roads in Can Dang commune are decorated with colorful banners, flags, and flower arrangements. Residents tend to the flowerbeds along the provincial and rural roads. Besides planting flowers along the roadsides, the local government also maintains, repairs, and upgrades the streetlights and installs promotional billboards. Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, a resident of Can Thuan hamlet, happily shared: “This year, the people are celebrating Tet in a very meaningful way. The weather is favorable, the crops are bountiful, and sales are good. The village roads and alleys are well-maintained, facilitating travel and the transportation of goods and agricultural products. Everyone is preparing and decorating their houses to welcome their ancestors on Tet in a proper manner.”
Mr. Tran Tan Phuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Can Dang commune, said that, building on revolutionary traditions, the Party Committee and government of Can Dang commune have continuously strived to develop socio -economic conditions and improve the lives of the people. In 2025, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee of Can Dang commune has promoted the spirit of unity and solidarity, striving to successfully complete and surpass the targets set in the resolution. The average per capita income of the entire commune reached 69 million VND/year; total state budget revenue in the area reached 1.131 billion VND; the poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard decreased to 1.58%...
Welcoming the new year, the people of Hoa Loi 1 hamlet are delighted as the Kenh Dung bridge is inaugurated and put into use. The Kenh Dung bridge is constructed of reinforced concrete, measuring 42 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and with a load capacity of 2.5 tons. The total construction cost was 800 million VND, of which the Southern Gas Trading Joint Stock Company contributed nearly 530 million VND, with the remainder raised by the local community through donations.
Expressing his joy at the completion of the new bridge after a period of collaborative construction, Mr. Nguyen Van Phai, a resident of Hoa Loi 1 hamlet, happily said: “The old bridge was dilapidated and severely damaged, making it very difficult for people to travel. When we heard that the local government was building a new bridge, the people in the hamlet unanimously contributed their labor and funds to build it, even though some households still face economic difficulties. Everyone is happy that the bridge is now solidly and beautifully constructed.”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Tam, Secretary of the Hoa Loi 1 Hamlet Party Branch, said: “The project is of great importance in serving the transportation and goods delivery needs of local people. Along with supervising the construction, we are also actively mobilizing social resources and providing logistical support to complete the project early and to a high standard.”
Despite being a disadvantaged locality, Can Dang commune always prioritizes the well-being of its people. Besides regularly organizing vocational training and job placement for rural workers, the commune also promotes the restructuring of agriculture towards high technology, increasing the value and quality of agricultural products. Many farming households have escaped poverty and become more prosperous thanks to effective production models such as fruit orchards, safe vegetable farming, and livestock breeding.
With economic development and improved living standards, people are actively contributing to building their homeland. Movements promoting cultural life, showing gratitude, caring for the poor, and ensuring social welfare are prioritized and implemented by the local authorities, attracting widespread participation. In addition to promptly disbursing benefits to eligible individuals, the commune also organizes numerous delegations to visit and present gifts to families of policy beneficiaries during holidays and festivals. The commune also proactively monitors the living conditions of households facing difficulties, providing timely support to help them quickly stabilize their lives.
