A "shield" from the power of community

The nationwide movement to protect national security is spreading strongly. Models such as security cameras and security checkpoints help people proactively prevent crime, detect and provide information to law enforcement agencies. The strength of the community is increasingly becoming a "shield" contributing to maintaining peace and security in life.

In An Minh commune, the nationwide movement to protect national security has been implemented comprehensively and extensively, achieving many practical results. A notable example is the "Security and Order Checkpoint" model located in Danh Coi hamlet, aimed at strengthening security, order, and fire safety in the area. The checkpoint deploys personnel on duty during peak hours; increases night patrols on inter-hamlet roads, densely populated residential areas, and areas prone to crime. The checkpoint personnel coordinate in disseminating information and guiding residents on safe electricity use, managing stoves and gas cylinders; and inspecting and reminding small businesses to strictly comply with fire safety regulations.

Mr. Tran Vung Tau, the checkpoint chief, stated that after two months of operation, the model has proven remarkably effective, especially during the peak period before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of 2026. Mr. Tau said: “Since its establishment, the checkpoint has successfully mediated one land boundary dispute; coordinated the mediation of one minor traffic accident, helping the parties reach an agreement without further complaints. The force also detected and handled three cases of illegal cockfighting for money, promptly preventing violations at the grassroots level.”

Currently, the checkpoint has 24 members, responsible for 7 hamlets, maintaining a regular duty roster and patrols. The force always coordinates closely with the commune police for night patrols, closely monitoring the local situation; and at the same time, intensifies propaganda and reminds people to raise their awareness of crime and fire prevention, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). Mr. Lam Thien An, residing in Can Gao hamlet, shared: “Since the checkpoint was established, the security situation has been more stable, especially at night and during peak days. Small conflicts are detected and resolved promptly, preventing them from escalating. We strongly support and hope this model will continue.”

Along with the security checkpoint model, the application of digital transformation in ensuring security and order has also yielded clear results. In Vinh Thuan commune, the "Security Camera" model has become a powerful tool to support the police force and local authorities in management and operation. Currently, the entire commune has installed more than 50 security cameras on key roads, residential areas, school gates, market areas, and places with large crowds. Notably, many households voluntarily provided Wi-Fi connections to transmit data to the commune police's common system. Some households even facilitated the placement of relay devices within their premises, ensuring stable and continuous signals.

Captain Vo Thanh Biet, an officer from the General Affairs Team of Vinh Thuan Commune Police, stated: “The security camera system is directly connected to the commune police headquarters, monitoring 24/7; data is stored for 15-30 days, promptly assisting in verification when incidents occur. Thanks to this, the time to identify suspects and vehicles involved in traffic safety violations, property theft, intentional injury, etc., has been significantly shortened.” Data from the security camera system is also a crucial source of information for crime prevention, local area management, suspect management, and handling administrative procedures related to security and order.

Encouragingly, many residents have proactively installed security cameras at their homes and businesses, and are willing to share data when needed. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, residing in Ranh Hat hamlet, Vinh Thuan commune, said: “Previously, people installed security cameras only to monitor their property, but now they wholeheartedly support the local model. When traffic accidents occur, property is stolen, or strangers appear unusually, we extract the images and provide them to the police. Installing security cameras not only protects the house but also contributes to maintaining peace and security for the entire neighborhood.”

The practical experience of the nationwide movement to protect national security in An Minh and Vinh Thuan communes shows that when the community works together, each citizen truly becomes a "security soldier" on the front lines of maintaining peace and security. This strength from the grassroots level is creating a solid foundation for building a safe and stable environment, serving socio -economic development in the locality.
