Can Tho opens photo exhibition "Frames of climate change"

On the afternoon of June 25, at Can Tho University, a photo exhibition with the theme “Frames of Climate Change” officially opened. The event was organized by the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam – Netherlands Friendship Association of Can Tho City in collaboration with Can Tho University and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City.

Many students from Can Tho University visited the exhibition.

The exhibition displays nearly 100 photographic works recorded in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, reflecting the clear impacts of climate change on the environment and human life. Thereby, it conveys a strong message about the community's shared responsibility in responding to climate change and moving towards sustainable development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep emphasized: Climate change is having increasingly serious impacts on the Mekong Delta, in which Can Tho City is directly affected. The exhibition is a meaningful activity, contributing to raising public awareness - especially young people - about the importance of adaptation and action in the face of climate change.

The "shrimp hugging rice" model is considered a sustainable solution for the Mekong Delta to adapt to climate change.

The city leaders highly appreciated the companionship and support from the Netherlands - a country with a lot of experience in adapting to climate change - through practical cooperation projects such as planting trees to prevent landslides, piloting garbage collection on the Can Tho River, and developing ecological urban areas.

Waste is one of the challenges in waste management in many countries today.

The exhibition “Frames of Climate Change” is open until July 16, 2025.
