The case of 9 missing sailors in Gianh River: 2 bodies discovered

Quang Tri residents discovered two bodies of sailors washed ashore after a ship sank on Gianh River. Authorities quickly secured and processed the scene.

In the early morning of September 30, authorities in Quang Tri province confirmed that people discovered two bodies washed ashore after two fishing boats BV-92756-TS and BV-92754-TS sank in the Gianh River area on the evening of September 28, leaving nine people missing.

According to initial information, at around 6 a.m. the same day, a body was discovered on the shore of Thanh Hai village, Bac Trach commune; the second body washed ashore in Tien Phong village, Bac Trach commune.

Immediately upon receiving the news, the Border Guard Reconnaissance Team sent 4 officers to coordinate with the Commune Police to protect the scene, and at the same time notified the Provincial Police's Criminal Techniques Department and functional forces to carry out legal procedures according to regulations.

Little rain, less waves

Previously, on September 29, forces from Military Region 4, the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command and related units had organized the salvage of the fishing boat BV-92756-TS. However, at 11 p.m., the salvage had to be temporarily stopped due to darkness and the large size of the boat, causing many difficulties.

Currently, Quang Tri province forces continue to search for victims along the coast from Bac Trach to Nam Trach communes.

As previously reported by SGGP, at 11:30 p.m. on September 28, fishing boats BV-92756-TS and BV-92754-TS with 13 crew members, were anchored at the North bank of Xuan Loc residential group, Bac Gianh ward, when their anchor rope broke, they drifted freely and got into an accident. 4 crew members swam to shore, 9 fishermen were missing.
