Can Tho Secretary: Both a central urban area and deeply attached to agriculture

On September 27, at the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, Mr. Le Quang Tung, member of the Party Central Committee, General Secretary, Head of the Office of the National Assembly, was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Speaking at the ceremony, the new Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Le Quang Tung, respectfully thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for recognizing and praising the results the city achieved in the past term.

Mr. Tung affirmed that the National Assembly Chairman had suggested a vision, strategic orientation, 6 key tasks and solutions on Party building, attaching importance to personnel work, operating 2-level local governments, and effectively implementing the Central Resolutions. In particular, studying and recommending the Central to summarize Resolution 59 on building and developing Can Tho city until 2030, with a vision to 2045...

According to the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, the orientations and solutions suggested by the National Assembly Chairman will help the city promote and exploit its potentials and advantages to the fullest and increasingly affirm Can Tho City as a center of economy, trade, science, technology, education and training, high-quality healthcare, a driving force of the Mekong Delta region, and also an important growth pole of the country.

The City Party Committee expressed its deep gratitude to the Politburo and the Secretariat for their trust, responsibility, and appointment to the City Party Committee Executive Committee, term I, 2025-2030. This is both an honor and a great responsibility of the City Party Committee Executive Committee as well as of each City Party Committee member in response to the trust and expectations of the Central Committee, the Party Committee, and the people of the city, especially in the new development period.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Le Quang Tung expressed his honor and emotion when being trusted, transferred and assigned by the Politburo and the Secretariat to the important responsibility of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee - a land rich in revolutionary tradition, full of affection and generosity; said that this is an honor and a valuable opportunity to learn, practice and develop.

Over the past years, under the leadership of the Central Government, with the determination of the Party Committee, the Government and the consensus of the people, Can Tho City has achieved many important and comprehensive achievements in all fields: the economy remains stable, urban infrastructure is increasingly spacious, the appearance of rural areas has been strongly renewed, social security has been taken care of, and people's lives in both urban and rural areas have increasingly improved.

As Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Mr. Le Quang Tung affirmed that he will promote the tradition of solidarity and determination with the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of the City Party Committee to lead and direct the successful implementation of the set goals and tasks; hoping to continue to receive the attention and close direction of the Central Government; the coordination and support of ministries, branches and localities in the region; and above all, the trust and companionship of all cadres, party members and people of the city, determined to build Can Tho to be both modern and civilized, rich, beautiful, prosperous and affectionate - truly becoming the center of the Mekong Delta region.
