On December 19th, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Tu Sang Company, and MTK Fertilizer Company, organized the "Farmers' Day for Proper Fertilization" at Thuan Loi Cooperative in Thuan Binh hamlet, Xa Phien commune, Can Tho City.

The event attracted the participation of more than 250 delegates and farmers from central ministries and departments, institutes, schools, businesses, and localities in Can Tho City.
The event was organized to improve the efficiency of fertilizer use in conjunction with promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Project for 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation linked to green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030 (1 million hectare rice project) in Can Tho and other Mekong Delta provinces.

IRRI experts guide farmers on the "four correct" fertilization methods and the application of digital technology for fertilizer management.
At the event, farmers were guided on the "4 correct" principles of fertilization, implementing fertilization according to the principles of specialized areas (SSNM) in conjunction with the synchronized application of rice cultivation techniques under the 1 million hectare project. They were also guided on the application of digital technology and precision machinery for rice sowing combined with burying fertilizer to reduce labor costs and use fertilizers economically and efficiently. Integrated pest management (IPM) and the management and utilization of rice straw in a circular manner were also emphasized.

A demonstration of mechanized row sowing combined with machine-assisted fertilizer application was conducted at the model farm implementing proper fertilization practices under the 1 million hectare rice project at Thuan Loi Cooperative.
Farmers not only had the opportunity to listen to and exchange ideas directly with experts, government agencies, and businesses supplying machinery, equipment, and fertilizers, but also witnessed practical demonstrations in the fields, especially demonstrations of mechanized row sowing combined with machine-assisted fertilizer application. This method is both accurate and fast, saving labor costs, reducing the amount of seeds and fertilizers used, and improving fertilizer efficiency compared to traditional broadcast sowing and surface fertilization methods.
Demonstration activities not only help farmers "see firsthand" the benefits of new farming methods, but also build confidence so that everyone is ready to change their practices and apply modern, sustainable rice production models according to the 1 million hectare rice project.
